TBS Coach (Former Employee), Fresno, CANovember 11, 2013
Pros: mileage reimbursement, flexible scheduling.

MHS was actually a nice company to get started with, but most moves are lateral within the company. Compensation was competitive and the benefits were very reasonable.

I started working for Mental Heath Systems in about 1997 for after school aldolesent program. From there was asked to work in the In-prisons... They provided me with a good salary and benifits. I worked for them for at least 10 years, and regret my decision to leave for another company in 2008.

RE: Excellent case management team
Case Manager (Former Employee), Vista, CAJuly 26, 2012
Pros: going to many professional development workshops, seminars, and meetings
Cons: short breaks
Working for MHS, inc was an exciting journey. Everyone I worked with had passion and dedication working with persons with severe and chronic mental illness. The hardest part of the job was completing massive amount of paperwork, but it was doable if you had good time management skills. The best part of the job was my positive interactions with my supervisor – more... and coworkers. – less

Excellent work environment
Case Manager or secretary career (Former Employee), Vista, CAJuly 9, 2012
Pros: attending many seminars to improve performance
Cons: spending short times with my clients.
MHS, Inc is a wonderful work environment. I received positive and constructive criticism regarding my duties. My supervisor was instrumental in my success as a case manager working with severe/chronic and dual-diagnosis clients.
A typical day at work entailed looking at phone messages and immediately responding to my client's needs. Then after, visiting – more... my clients (28) a week. My day ended writing documentions and assessments. I learned that Case management offered me the opportunity to promote higher levels of wellness, stability, and qualityof life as well as assist in the prevention of acute psychiatric or substance abuse relapses. I worked with co-workers that were motivated and shared the same passion of meeting the needs of our clients. The hardest part of the job was the problems of helping my clients access residential treatment, and providing assistance to the homeless. The most enjoyable part of the job was observing the milestones of each client. It was rewarding to know that inspite of their disability, many demonstrated strengths in their abilities. – less

Pros: great benefits and room to advance, learned how to function in a high security setting
A typical day was to get client charts together and in order, conduct intakes and create treatment plans with inmates, document progress and areas of concern, crisis intervention. Facilitate addiction education, life skills and re-entry groups to prepare inmates to function in society. Management was professional, helpful and supportive to needs of – more... the employee. Co-worker's were supportive and a pleasure to work beside. Co-workers were very professional. The hardest part of the job was the unpredictability of the inmates, the most enjoyable was the ability to give them hope that their lives can be better if they want it to. helping to change lives is a very rewarding job. – less
