Mercom was founded in January 2000 by Stella Mercado Colwell with the assistance of her brother Larry Mercado, who now serve as President and Vice President, respectively. Their twenty years of experience in the information technology field led them to excel in the pursuit of providing turn-key solutions for their customers.
Mercom was recently certified by the US Small Business Administration as an 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business and HUBZone concern in January 2004 and August 2002, respectively, and by the Maryland Department of Transportation (DOT) as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) in 2003.
