Quiet place to work, not very stressful, a little monotonous
Medical Records Technician (Former Employee), Baltimore, MDJanuary 2, 2014
Pros: free lunches, quiet, not stressful, laid back
Cons: a bit monotonous, didn't get paid very much, lonely at times.
When I worked for Mercy Hospital in the Medical Records department, I would scan in patients paper medical charts into our new electronic health system. I had to organize and categorize each document to make it easy for the doctor to find within the patient's electronic chart. It was a solitary job which was nice at times, but I missed having people – more... to talk to. Management was very organized and friendly. During this job, I learned a lot about different medical conditions, treatments, medical terminology and anatomy. I enjoyed working this job but it was a temporary position and I was happy to start at Lutherville Personal Physicians. – less

I loved being a Unit Clerk in NICU. I wish I never left. The reason for me leaving was because I wanted to live in San Antonio. Pay wasn't good but I enjoyed the 3 yrs I was there.

Help Desk Analyst (Current Employee), Chicago, ILDecember 3, 2013
Pros: people, different technologies, strong team, respect for each other
Cons: 3rd shift, no longer challenging, ready to grow in career.
My shift is from 11pm to 7am. Receive calls from users and document what the issue is. Issue's vary Troubleshooting of PC's, Active Directory / Cerner interface and application's management. Gained more experience with wiring of closets, PC repairs, professional documentation, and creating accounts for users to be able to use different software. Management – more... is great and fair. Co workers enjoy the job and work well as a team. The hardest part of the job for me would have to be the shift I work, which is third shift. The most enjoyable part of the job is the people. Love helping users with different challenges. Challenges makes everyday exciting and always test you. – less

I loved working for these Hospitals. would love to go back
Unit Clerk (Former Employee), Miami, FLDecember 3, 2013
I really enjoyed working at Mercy and South Miami Hospitals. while working at these hospitals I was able to meet and talk to patients, visitors, doctors. I have really great communication skills and I pride myself on that. The nurses were outstanding. It was a pleasure working with them and knowing how much they appreciated me in doing my work and keeping – more... everything in order. The nurses never had to ask me twice to do anything. I was always up to date with my filing, my phone calls, lab work, ordering what ever was needed to run our station smoothly. the hardest part of my job was having to face and comfort visitors who had lost a loved one. My first son was born at South Miami Hospital. It was the most enjoyable experience I was treated like royalty. I learned to speak and understand some Spanish just enough to get by. I would love to get a job in this field again because I enjoy meeting and talking to people. – less

Paid Volunteer (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PANovember 26, 2013
Pros: they will feed and provide clothes to the homeless or people in need.
Cons: short breaks
I also did clinical work for this hospital and each person I came across was willing to help me when I asked. If didn't understand something no one became frustrated in me asking them for help. They just showed me whatever it was I needed their help with. The hardest part of the job was dealing with patients. You will come across all types of people, – more... some nice, some mean but as long as you come in with a clear mind and wiliness to get the job done it doesn't bother you as much. You also have to put yourself in their shoe's and acknowledge that these people are sick and just want to get better. The most enjoyable part of the job is building relationship's with fellow co-workers and patients. Even though your not suppose to get emotionally attached to your patients but their life and well-being is in your hands. You have ensure that your patient is comfortable during their stay. – less

Very heavily engaging with patients and staff
Learned the importance of communication in several scenarios
Very organized system of management
Co-workers were very professional and engaging in their responsibilities
The hardest part of the job is the painful experience of watching a patient pass and emergency cases

Great people to work with!
Registered Nurse- Critical Care Float Nurse (Former Employee), Buffalo, NYNovember 20, 2013
Pros: weekend night pay was fantastic! the people that i worked with were great.
Cons: old and out-dated beyond the er, misguided unionized nursing, union had no consideration for the current state of healthcare, nearly ended up on strike.
As a critical care float, the day was never typical. Floated to almost every unit within the hospital. Being the first time I worked on units outside of critical care, I attained an appreciation for what nursing is on med/surg and telemetry units, thus giving me a greater appreciation for critical care. Pleasantly surprised at how much I came to enjoy – more... the variety, despite spending the majority of my time caring for critically ill patients. Left for an opportunity for my wife. – less

Laboratory Assistant II (Current Employee), St. Louis, MONovember 12, 2013
Pros: good lunch
Cons: short breaks healthcare, etc
A typical day at work is taking care of the patients needs. And I learned that patients come first in the work place. My manager is very open to different things that I bring to her. I love working with my co workers they are truly a team. The hardest part of the job is not being able to help everyone. The most enjoyable part of the job is to do my best – more... at what I do. – less
