Wandering lost, destroying product lines that could be improved, yet somehow they convinced IBM to buy them.
Software Developer (Former Employee) –  RemoteNovember 20, 2017
Merge has (had) a long history of purchasing technology along with the developers of that technology in order to show off their wall of patents. They would then proceed to dismantle the team through firings and reassignments, leaving the product to fall into obsolescence under a skeletal team with so few members that mere maintenance was the only achievable goal. Worst of all, they would then be honestly surprised when the product became unsalable and had to be ended.

I have never worked for a more poorly managed company, and I hope I never will.
Pros
Got to work remotely; a few of my immediate supervisors were nice people.
Cons
Everything else. Pay was substandard, work was unchallenging, and using 10 year old technology. Now that I'm back in the job market, I have no recent technology skills to show.

Toxic workplace with very poor managers.
Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  Midwest Estates, UTJune 19, 2017
The only reason you should work here is if you have no other choice. Management is manipulative, disrespectful and downright dishonest. The only good product is cardio PACS. The other products are decent t, but, dated and they are struggling to keep their installed base. The quality of new releases is very, very poor and customers are frustrated. Quotas are a joke and less than. 25 percent actually make quota.

Everyone is constantly intimidated by management which leads to lots of backstabbing and no cooperation amongst the different groups.
Pros
Awesome IBM benefits
Cons
A few are chosen. Everyone else is set up to fail. Toxic culture where everyone lies, all the time and will stab you in the back just to watch you bleed.

Phone support (Current Employee) –  Hartland, WIMay 5, 2017
Do not work for this company. The only good thing are the benefits. There is no structure. Customers constantly say how they hate support and are going to switch to a different vendor. Management and communication is non-existent. Help is never available.

Technical Analyst (Current Employee) –  Daytona Beach, FLMay 1, 2017
The hardest part of the job is that there is no new employment training on the product. Everything you learn is from other employees. There is no job stability, the company was has been sold and then partnered with another company within 2 years. Currently layoffs are taking place with no information given to us about an end date.
Pros
Good health insurance, hour lunches
Cons
Lack of Management, no job security

Good company benefits but management and training pitiful
Technical Support (Current Employee) –  Daytona Beach, FLJanuary 14, 2016
Never worked in call center environment, so it could be better than most. Not enough hours in the day to help people with software that was either poorly written or poorly tested. Training was pitiful - a definite "thrown to the wolves environment". Management is confrontational. Morale low - probably due to being reminded constantly of things that weren't done or could've been done better as opposed to noting all of the things for which people had gone the extra mile.
Pros
Good, inexpensive benefits. Food catered in.
Cons
Poor training, micro-managed, negative atmosphere

Technical Support Analyst II (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CAOctober 7, 2015
Only been working for the company a short time and have a good feeling about the company. Just hope the Management is able to understand that a Work flow for one company does not all work for another. I have seen this in other companies and has caused stressed with current employees, this also cause employees to look for another job.

Stressful Environment
Technical Support Analyst (Former Employee) –  Hartland, WIAugust 2, 2015
Typical day consisted of troubleshooting issues for end users. I got hands on experience but not so much training. Management was a joke, they are quick to smile in your face but are not willing to address any questions your may have. Don't even bother asking co-workers for assistances for as they are quick to run to the managers and directors quickly to report that you're asking too many questions. The hardest part of this job is trying to do your job efficiently without the resources or training. When it is requested, you just get the run around and nothing is resolved. The most enjoyable part of the day is when you ask for assistance, and your best response is look in your notes, It's kind of hard to look at your notes when you're already struggling with the workflow because there were no formal training and you're just expected to know it. Unprofessional work atmosphere.
Pros
Hour lunch
Cons
Working with a bunch of coworkers that aren't team players

Director, Production Operations (Current Employee) –  San Diego, CAMay 10, 2015
Merge Healthcare is formally DR Systems. Acquisition took place Feb./2015. Worked 12 yrs. for DR Systems as Director, Production Operations.
- Every day was a productive work day; it seemed no day was the same, constant variety each day (steady production runs, service issues, regulatory concerns, configuration management activities...etc). Looked forward to tackling these opportunities/challenges each day. Very process driven company, which is good.
- Since it's a smaller company, must be quick to respond and adapt to change, all activities have high visibility at all levels of management.
- Throughout my 12 yrs. the Sr. (C level) Management team provided solid support and is the reason I was originally was drawn to this organization.
- Co-workers/colleagues were easy to work with, very supportive. My subordinates were well trained and very efficient. Low turnover rate in my Operations department.
- Toughest part of my job was NOT having all the necessary electronic s/w tools to support every day functions and reporting. A lack of an ERP and inventory control system hampered things, but we were still able to execute at a high and accurate level.
- The job was enjoyable due to the variety of tasks each day, closeness of employees, holiday parties, department picnics all supported by management and used as a morale boost.
Pros
Great work environment, small building and family atmosphere feeling.
Cons
Lack of electronic tools (no ERP, inventory ctl., ...etc) to help make job more efficient.

Great 3rd Shift Experience
Global Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Morrisville, NCMay 3, 2014
As a Global Support Specialist, I worked from Midnight to 8AM fielding emails, phone calls and chat sessions (often simultaneously) from medical professionals around the world. It was interesting to work with IT, R&D, nurses and physicians using our software to conduct clinical trials. Governed by strict company adherence to HIPAA regulations and 21 CFR Part 11, I enjoyed troubleshooting access problems, connectivity issues and general how-to inquiries. Great support from other team members (at shift change only) and management was truly supportive of training endeavors and security concerns. Despite elevated turnaround, this has been a wonderful experience and a perfect introduction to Healthcare IT.
Pros
Freedom of 3rd shift, support from mgmt, competitive salary
Cons
Below average Medical/Dental coverage, lack of shift coverage

Technical Support Analyst (Former Employee) –  Daytona Beach, FLJuly 31, 2013
Inbound and outbound calls, first call resolution, creating cases for issues that are called in. Goal was for first call resolution. Cases that were not first call resolutions would be forwarded to other departments. Worked with a team that was very hard working and detail oriented. The hardest part of the job was being layed off. The most enjoyable part of the job was assisting our customers and resolving their issues.
Pros
health care, Pto, hours, salary
Cons
being layed off
