Michael Dores founded Merlin Information Services in Ojai, California, in 1991, where he pioneered searching public record on CD-ROM. Michael's understanding of the needs of investigators inspired him to develop search and retrieval tools with the capability of searching data in ways never before possible. Michael and his wife, Jordonna, moved the company to Kalispell, Montana, in 1994, due to the desire to be in an incredibly beautiful location.
In 1997, Merlin began offering its public record databases Online at www.merlindata.com. With the growth of e-commerce, accessing data via the Internet is now much more practical than using CD-ROMs, and Merlin continues to be a premiere Online database provider. In the last few years, Merlin's database offerings have grown substantially, with the Merlin Cross-Directory, National FlatRate, the Legal Phone Break and the best national skiptracing product on the market, the Link to America TM dossier product.
Customers have the choice of searching Online or through their own in-house data repository, delivered on CD-ROM or magnetic tape. Online access is offered on a pay-per-search or a fixed-cost unlimited basis, depending on the needs of the customer.
