After training, they will throw you to the wolves. You will be assigned a base and the second you arrive you are at work...there is no transition period and no paycheck for about 6 weeks. You pay for your own uniform. They have a probation that is scheduled for 6 mo, but they will extend it if you call out sick or miss a call from crew scheduling. My first year pay almost qualified me for food stamps.
Flying can be a lot of fun...wonderful coworkers. Last week I had a long layover in Pensacola and we rented a car and sat on the beach and got a tan. Life was good!
If you have enough money from being retired or married to someone with a decent income you will have a better chance of surviving this career. The travel benefits are very good, if you can find the time.
