The Senior Systems Technician role will be primarily responsible for providing general technical support to our corporate user base made up of Windows, Mac OS X, and Ubuntu Linux users. Beyond providing desktop support, some additional responsibilities will include supporting mobile devices, printers, network infrastructure, acting as a liaison to vendor support services, and supporting remote users. You will also be expected to participate in a rotation for emergency off-hours support.
The candidate must have:

  • a High School diploma or GED
  • at least one year of experience providing IT support to Windows desktop users
  • proficiency with Windows desktop operating systems, PC hardware, modern Internet browsers, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and DNS
  • working knowledge of Active Directory, how it’s used, and how it’s managed
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • ability to write and maintain technical documentation
  • ability to effectively use support ticketing systems and project management software
  • eagerness to learn
  • awareness of what you don’t know and when it’s time to ask for help

Considered a plus:

  • an associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • experience supporting Mac OS X users
  • experience with Google Apps
  • experience with network attached storage (CIFS, NFS)
  • experience with Linux desktops and servers
  • experience managing Active Directory Group Policies and NTFS ACLs
  • experience with the assorted LAMP web hosting environments
  • Python, bash, or experience with other programming or scripting languages

The Systems team as a whole works together to support each other, especially on projects with broad scope. As a member of the Systems team you will have the opportunity to further develop your network and systems engineering skills with exposure to interesting technologies like ZFS, Linux based networking devices, Xen paravirtualization, Amazon Web Services, PXE booting, and IPv6.
