Don't work for the Physician Organization.
Medical Assistant (Former Employee), Sugar Land, TX –
Pros: free lunch most daus
Cons: coporation really does not care about it's staff
If you don't mind your office manager searching your personal belongings or changing your time without your knowledge then this is the place for you. A.K. or A.R. has a habit of lying on a regular and if you report her be prepared to lose your job. And if you are 60 or older be prepared for her to ask you to care a 5 gallon jug if water down a long – more...  hallway. If you don't get a lunch, be prepared not to get one, because she quite frankly does not care. The some patients are sweet, but some are physically and verbally abusive. And as a matter of fact the office manager encourages it, by standing there watching the patient yell at you, and then call you into her office to discuss why you were wrong. Forget asking for help unless you work for either the elite doctors or the high grossing physician in the practice. She also has no problem sharing your personnel information with the office staff. She also does not have a problem rolling her eyes at you, lying on you, or gossiping about you to other staff. – less

It was fun to work when you were with friends-lots of teamwork
IMCU (Former Employee), Merrillville, IN –
Pros: good pay, nice employees
Cons: no breaks, no lunches and management makes promises not kept.
I worked at Methodist a total of 16 years. I started 1/95-8/06 and then restarted on 4/07 until 8/11. It was a nice place in the beginning and I made many friends and enjoyed the work environment. Eventually, something happened with management and there was a lot of false controversy at which time I felt it was time to move on. I would like working – more...  there on occasion and enjoyed the epic computer. The workload was getting too much also and administration did not seem to listen to problems that were occuring. – less

My Manager was great about having flexible hours. However was too busy to manage situations in the department, as she was working on other projects to forward herself. Co-workers , great.

Productive
SECRETARY, MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT (Former Employee), Philadelphia Pa –
Pros: clean and inviting
Cons: need a little improvement in pay raises.
Very interesting always a nice environment. I worked for 2 Departments Maintenance which was a great place to work, then in the Resource Center which was a fast paced environment just what I loved. The Hospital is in great shape very inviting for visitors and very compatable workers. I learned to listen to patients, Management is there to keep everyone – more...  in line, co-workers were caring, the hardest part of the job was when they kept changing hours, I overall enjoyed my work as it was very interesting. – less

Productive, hard worker
Department Secretary (Former Employee), Merrillville, IN –
Pros: 9 years work experience
Cons: bias challenges
This was a good company to work for. There too many changes in management that caused conflicting issues at times. They were bias in a many ways. With that being said I worked hard but too many times I proved what and who I was in the new position I was promoted to.

a great hospital to work for
Registered Nurse - Surgical ICU (Former Employee), Houston, TX –
I've worked for Methodist hospital for a short period of time. I wished my personal situation could have allowed me work longer for this hospital. My six month old baby and 3 year old toddler were more important at that time then my job. 12 hours shift and driving from Pasadena to medical center became a struggle between family and career. The experience – more...  I had working in surgical ICU was the best experience I've ever had since I graduate from nursing school. The staff from management, physicians, nurses, aids etc were all great. The work were stressful and intense, but the work place culture and values were the best. I have learned a lot, but not enough. I hope one day I can go back and learn more. – less

Productive and pleasant workplace
Volunteer (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA –
A typical day at work would be answering phones in the office and taking meals to patients, taking blood to the blood lab, taking patients places and anything else that doctors requested.

fun place to work
Clinical Secretary (Former Employee), Dallas, TX –
Pros: friendly environment
Cons: since it is a hospital i never got holidays off, and the pay raise was not so good
Always busy but I learned how to read Dr hand writing and medical terminology. I worked on the cancer floor so I learned a lot about that. My Co workers were so nice. The hardest part was when I first started I wasn't able to read the Dr's hand writing but I caught on quick. The most enjoyable party wasthat I always stayed busy.

THIS EMPLOYER IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE PATIENTS WELL BEING, NOT AS MUCH ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES AS THEY SHOULD BE. A BAD TURN OVER FOR EMPLOYMENT.

Methodist was a great place until HCA came in
Supervisor in Radiology (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX –
Pros: the employees and staff
Cons: hca
My experiences with Methodist Hospital were excellent. It felt like family. My experiences with HCA not so much. Corporate greed that nickle and dimes employees during harsh economic times.
