Pros: diversity
A typical day at is work making sure all patients are receiving every care aspect that they need. I learned to understand that many people need that extra help and care. The management teams is very professional along with all my co workers. The hardest part of my day is seeing an ill person and the best part of my is knowing that I am there to help – more... them. – less

Job Duties
Unit Secretary (Former Employee), Memphis, TN – December 11, 2012
As a Unit Coordinator it is extremely important that I am able to muiltitask at least 4 or 5 task at the same time.I had to place orders in the computers, field questions from doctors and nurses, answer the call light at the front desk from the patients. I was the resource person for all information on the floor. The management team was always available – more... to answer any questions. My co-workers were like family and we still keep in touch. The hardest and most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with family and patients. It was hard seeing the family experience the loss of a love one but it was nice being able to assist them doing their time of need. – less

Management needs to get overhauled
Registered Nurse (Current Employee), Memphis, TN – October 29, 2012
Pros: great co-workers
Cons: lack of compassion
I love my co-workers but management is really making it hard for me to stay. They want you there to take care of patients but could care less how you feel doing it. The compassion on my floor is lacking; when you are tending to a dying parent and they harass you the whole time or when you are going through your own illness and they don't want to accept – more... your call-in. I can't care for people when I don't feel good myself! Why put in my own schedule if they are going to put me where they want. Don't ask for a vacation cause they don't have enough staff to give you one. They also block you from going anywhere else in the hospital. – less

Pros: great benefits, friendly environment and clean facility

Methodist is an awesome company to work for. Great job stability if you're not a military spouse :( I was truly sad when I left the company and I still keep in contact with my former co-workers. We were all like family.

A great learning experience
Internship for Clinical Practicum (Former Employee), Memphis, TN – August 16, 2012
Working at Methodist was for a seminary class and one of the classes I enjoyed because it was hands-on. The typical day was providing pastoral care to patients. On other days, a group of students met with our supervisor to discuss and support one another. The hardest part of the job was only seeing new patients and never forming a bond. The most enjoyable – more... part of the job was a patient telling me how much the visit meant to them. – less

I enjoy working at the hospital
Anesthesia Tech (Current Employee), Memphis, TN – July 31, 2012
Pros: i get to go to lunch on time and breaks
Cons: family insurance
A typical work day is cleaning after each surgical case and assisting the anesthesia team, as well as answering overhead calls. What I've learned is how to be patient and work with others, how to be responsible and independent. Management is very fair because I loved the fact that they gave me the oppuntinity to work and attend school. My co-workers – more... and I get along very good I wouldn't trade them for nothing. Well there isn't really a hard part unless we have an emergency and I have to stay calm and really think about what I'm doing. The most enjoyable part of my job is communiting and learning something new everyday. – less

Prestigious hospital with great values
Nurse Extern (Former Employee), Memphis, TN – June 11, 2012
Pros: great benefit
Cons: lack of management
My typical day included shadowing a registered nurse and assisting staff with the care of patients. This included assisting in the administration of medications, orders and wound care dressings. I learned how to balance time while caring for multiple patients. During this period, I also learned a lot about different drugs and interactions o watch for – more... while administering drugs. There was a lack of management staff during my time of employment. During this time one manager was resigning and a interim manager was coming in to place. There was a high turn over rate for the charge nurses and well as the registered nurses. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the patients and the families. – less
