A rough, underpaid job
Bakery Clerk (Current Employee), Kingston, ON – December 31, 2012
A typical work day is highly dependent on the time of day that you work. It goes through baking in the morning, packaging in the afternoon and breaking out dough for the next day. It was a great place to learn the best way to prioritize and time management, but it is hard during the times when there are orders coming in or during the holidays. The socializing – more... with co-workers during work is a great upside to work, although the job is demanding. – less

This job will help you learn how to multi-task while constantly strengthening your customer relationships. Sometimes the hours can be long and the work can be draining, but overall it is fast paced.

busy and productive day with customers
Fresh 2 Go Manager/Deli Full Time (Former Employee), markham and egliton – September 23, 2012
Pros: working with good people and the customers, benifits are good
Cons: not enough time to give proper customer service or prep time
Begin the day by getting the coffee on and saying good morning to my staff, i would then do loss control of off code products. Then i would go out and see what all had to be filled in my counters and begin to fill them, once filled i would go to the freeezer and get all the products i would need for the day and next. At 11:00 am i would make pizza's – more... for the counter and get the hot sandwich counter up and running. Dealing with cash while doing every thing else was a good way to learn how to multi task. Next around 2pm the order would come in aand i would head to recieving to get it, take it apart and put it away. All this time you would have to stop and deal with customers questions and taking pizza orders answering the department phone and deal with the store manager if he had ant questions. Take a quick lunch and back to start preping for your weekly department specials, Fresh to go had 2 pizza's every wednesday night and wings every thursday. Before leaving i would leave notes for the night staff so they knew what had to be done eg. ribs, roast, chickens etc. Greet night staff go over every thing to make sure it is clear and head home. – less

I like a workplace the most if it has freedom to enjoy the work and excellent pay
Newspaper Delivery (Former Employee), downtown – September 3, 2012
Pros: everything is great.
Cons: rude bosses rejection
the job is great but my bosses are condacending and rude. I still excel at the job and treat them with respect. A typical day is Im running around handing out papers. I deal with a tonne of rejection but for the most part people are cooperative and I lead in sales for that reason. The hardest part of the job is my bosses are extremely negative and the – more... most enjoyable part is the freedom I have since I usually work alone. – less

Bustling
Volunteer (Former Employee), Leeds – August 11, 2012
Pros: friendly staff, a desk and pc to myself
Cons: having only one other gis expert to consult whenever i needed a second opinion
On a typical day I'd sit at my desk and, using ArcGIS, carry out operations on maps of the sub-region. These maps had, amongst other things, information on the bus services that served the area, and on the distribution of the population in the area. I'd also been given, separately, information on the government subsidies received - where applicable – more... - by the operators of the said bus services. The overall aim of the ongoing exercise was to estimate the impacts that adjustments to the subsidies would have on the levels of service provided to the populace.

I learnt many complex operations in ArcGIS and, more importantly, I learnt how best to represent (the solution of) an organisational problem as a sequence of operations in ArcGIS.

Management and my co-workers were wonderful, very warm and most helpful. I'll never forget the warmth of the atmosphere.

The hardest part of the job was deciding exactly what figures management wanted to see, and how best to present them graphically, in order to help them decide where funding levels could be adjusted with minimal impact. The easiest part of the job was writing my report into a PowerPoint presentation. – less

Stable Job for a Student
Bakery Clerk (Current Employee), Ottawa, ON – July 28, 2012
Pros: good people, extra air miles
Cons: poor salary, terrible raise policy
Despite the union's under appreciation of the part time workers within the company, I find the position challenging and enjoyable. I like the people I work with, and I will take the skills I have learned with me forever.

by Metro I refer to the Grocery Store Chain, not the Newspaper or bus company.
