Academic Advisor – Promote student success. (Former Employee), Miami, FL – June 2, 2013
Pros: professional development
Cons: insurance plan
Rundown of a typical day: Check emails. Return phone messages. Meet with students for advisement. Break for lunch. Return to one-on-one advisement with students. I received excellent training for the job and to enhance my professional development.

Worst place to work
Helpdesk Technician (Former Employee), Miami, FL – April 9, 2013
Cons: everything
This place does not value its employees at all. They treat them like low class citizens and pay them even lower salaries. Your constantly at risk to lose your job and working in a fearful environment can damage you psychologically.

Enjoyable place to interact with other people
Assistant Supervisor/Veteran's Certifying Official (Former Employee), Miami, FL – March 19, 2013
Pros: if my child was sick (he was an infant) they would allow me to re-arrange my schedule.
Cons: veteran's being upset over their money, dept. of veteran affairs in st. petersburg, fl. had control.
A typical day for me involved entering/reviewing/assisting US military veterans in applying for their Montgomery GI Bill

I learned that every person should be treated fairly and given assistance no matter how irrate/angry/mad they are

My co-workers and I were a team. We were all cross-trained which allowed for everyone to look out for each other.

The – more... most enjoyable part of my job is that they, over the course of almost 7 yrs. became my second family. I met my husband through my job and have been married to a Major in the Army for 9 yrs. this August of 2013. – less

Culturally dynamic collegiate environment
Program Specialist (Former Employee), Miami, FL – December 20, 2012
Pros: competitive salary amount based on skills and work-related experiences
Cons: lack of up to date training that is consistent with everyday work-related experience.
Being that Miami Dade College is the largest college in the United States, there are many opportunities to gain work-related experiences in various job posts throughout many of the campus locations. It is culturally dynamic and hosts plenty of individuals from all walks of life and experiences and makes for a great place to work and learn from.
