Working at Michael Page

  • John P2013 12 months ago
I spoke with people at consultant level and they were ok. Most of the "fishermen" were at manager/director level. I didn't mind if they returned my calls or not as I had some really good opportunities and was very close to an offer. But I did mind that they contacted me with "dead" opportunities just to fish. They kept pushing me to tell them where else I was interviewing. Even if I told them that I got these opportunities from other headhunters and the information was confidential, they still asked if I could tell them opportunities that I wasn't interested in. Later I found the opportunities they told me about were out-of-date.

These guys are probably the worst recruiting firm in Boston. They are unresponsive and try to place you in temp jobs just so they can get their payout. They tried getting me to go on in interview for a position that they had no information on on, if you can believe that. Then when you actually respond to a job posting that fits your qualifications, you don't hear from them or you get a one word response from them. They are horrible.

Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Michael Page?

Recieved a call one of their recruiters about this position. Told me they were on the phone, and would call back in 15 minutes. After waiting for the call for over an hour i went home. They have never called me back. Totally unprofessional group of people.

Well i deal with the Michael Page office in NY and I am actually pretty satisfied with them. They have sent me on two interviews already, and is in the middle of setting up more HR interviews. The lady I work with is very professional and is soo so nice. I can't speak for everyone in the company, since I don't know them, but so sar so good!

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Michael Page stack up against the competition?

I interviewed at Philly office. They did not do much for me except call me in for the interview. I think as is with most of these firms they need square pegs in square boxes. That is what works best for them and the client base. This company is better than RH but probably serves the same customer base jobs $20-45k, 45-70 is higher end and fewer.
