MicroEdge keeps grantmakers' money from burning holes in their pockets. The company provides software and Web-based technologies for grantmakers. MicroEdge's GIFTS software helps not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, businesses, and individuals manage grant applications, approval processes, requirements and activities, payment scheduling, and result monitoring. The company also offers applications for managing corporate philanthropic giving programs. Founded in 1985, MicroEdge became a subsidiary of Advent Software in 1998. In 2009 Advent sold the company to Vista Equity Partners for about $30 million in cash.
After its acquisition by Advent Software, MicroEdge acquired other companies in the early 21st century, including NPO Solutions, the creator of the FIMS and FoundationPower software suites for community foundations. In 2007 the company bought Vivid Orange Ltd., a UK-based firm. Vivid Orange developed SmartChange, a Web-based tool for helping companies and charities manage their community involvement and employee-donation initiatives. – less
