Mid-Continent Engineering has an opening for a CNC Programmer. We are seeking talented candidates with 3+ years experience in programming and editing CNC programs. The ability to assist in setting up and operating vertical, horizontal and track CNC machines with Okuma, Fanuc, Fadal and Haas controls is required

Requirements:

  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Self-starter with great analytical skills
  • Ability to work from CAD CAM files (programming ability in SURFCAM and SolidWorks required)
  • Experience producing CNC programs for tooling and production parts
  • Experience operating saws, manual mills, drill presses, lathe and grinders
  • Experience as a set-up/first run machinist
  • Complete understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading required
  • High School diploma

Additional qualifications that will be beneficial:

  • Programming ability in Pro/E or CATIA
  • Associate Degree in Tool and Die Design or Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities:

  • Programming and editing programs for multi-axis CNC horizontal and vertical mills
  • Maintaining the CAD/CAM software and filing system
  • Generating tooling setup sheets and maintaining records as required
  • Designing and detailing fixtures using engineering software
  • Working with other tool designers to optimize CAD models for CNC programming
  • Assisting and instructing other CNC programmers in using CAD/CAM software
  • Assisting Engineering Department with cost and time estimates for programming, tooling, fixturing and machining
  • Setting up and operating machines, and assisting CNC operators with setups and tool selection as needed
  • Selecting speeds, feeds and tooling for a range of standard operations
  • Studying blueprints to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions
  • Verifying conformance of machined work pieces
