Property Manager (Former Employee) –  Jackson, MSMay 18, 2016
Very professional company that offered training, online and in person. This company rewarded employees for a job well done. Managers were even taken on educational seminars.
Compensation and benefits were great.
This company empowered you to be successful.

Great Place to Work
Leasing Consultant (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXMay 15, 2015
Mid America is a great and fair company. The management staff really promote the growth of their employees. Mid America provides extensive online and in class training and allows employees to cross train who are interested in moving up within the company. They offer tuition reimbursement and have hundreds of communities throughout the US.
Pros
steady schedule
Cons
pay

They went bankrupt
Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Warner Robins, GANovember 23, 2014
Not much to say, they were a mom-pop family owned Co. based out of New Jersey. They took a big hit when recession started and never recovered.

Must have patience and no life on weekends
Leasing (Current Employee) –  Round RockOctober 16, 2014
Every day is different but expect the unexpected to happen. The job starts off really fun and interesting but when you realize there's no room for growth unless a manager quits, it becomes frustrating.
Pros
Great networking at AAA events, off at six most days
Cons
weekends are a must with this company, residents constantly complain about things we can't change, never any positive reinforcement from superiors.

MAA is a company that has vast resources but rarely allows its employees to access it. The pay and commission structure is not the best. However, there is flexibility in your schedule and are allowed to take care of personal items easily.
Pros
Flexible Schedule
Cons
no merit increases, poor health benefit options, little sick time, poor support from upper management

Painter (Current Employee) –  Valdosta, GAFebruary 23, 2013
I learn new things everyday, and everyday is a challange.
The fast pace of a deadline is exciting but also can be struggling at times to reach. Most cases of something new to do everyday. You never know what curve ball will be thrown at you on any given day.

Cog in the machine
Property Manager (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLMarch 14, 2012
This is a good company and is a solid employer. However, once an employee has proven to be an asset, this company will keep you there in that position, as long as the property is running correctly, FOREVER! You become a cog in the machine without opportunity for advancement or rarely advanced. Thus, year after year the employee that makes the upper echelon rich, gets their puny 2% pay increase every year, which doesn't even cover the cost of living increases in gasoline, groceries, travel, clothing etc...you actually lose money with a 2% pay increase when factoring in the annual cost of living increases. Then this company actually believes they've done the employees a favor by giving a pay increase...incredible.
Pros
stock program
Cons
require managers to work weekends, rarely advanced to higher position
