Productive Workplace with Efficient & Highly Skilled Workforce
Draftsman (Current Employee) –  Buffalo, NYDecember 29, 2016
Middough is an excellent opportunity for new hires & entry level professionals in engineering, architecture, & management. Workforce is knowledgeable & experienced allowing new hires to have proper supervision to aclemate to the working environment. However, room for growth is very limited, professional skill development & training is lacking for employees who seek to better refine or develop new skill sets professionals often do not have access to skill resource classes or technical training on specific operations used by the company. Management is professional at the immediate office branches, however overall corporate structure has had setbacks in securing contracts for assignments leading to a cutback in employee opportunities & benefits. Middough has been an excellent door opener to my professional career but a change was in order to advance my skills & seek a more stable long-term outlook for success.
Pros
Expert Management, Entry-level, skilled professionals.
Cons
Limited growth opportunities, lack in professional training, corporate setbacks.

Big company trying to get a foothold in Houston with very little success.
Sr. Plant Layout & Piping Designer (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXMarch 17, 2016
Big company from Cleveland, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. The project that I worked on was a government funded boondoggle with several big oil companies all trying to put their 2 cents in and it all ended up dragging the project out indefinitely and created a lot of stress for the Engineering and Design groups.
Pros
The Engineering management and Piping Design Management were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Cons
The project wore everyone out with the indecision, bad decisions of the Client Engineers in charge.

Terrible Company, Terrible Management, Terrible Employees
Manager (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHAugust 23, 2015
No doubt, the most inefficient and worthless organization I have worked for in my entire career. It is nothing more than a job shop that treats employees slightly better than disposable razors. Policies are arbitrarily changed at the whim of the primary owner who runs the organization as a dictatorship. Any attempts at trying to bring some level of accountability are turned into attempts by discipline managers to challenge the credibility of the change agent. Their idea of efficiency is requiring senior managers to come in on their personal time during weekends to attend required training and then count those hours as an "investment" by the firm to training. What a joke, just like the organization.
Pros
People can more or less come and go as they please as long as they can find a contract to bill to, regardless if it's accurate or not.

A temporary place to work!
Engineer (Former Employee) –  Oak Brook, ILJuly 9, 2013
Middough will work the person day and night, and then eliminate the person when there is no work for short periods of time. This does not establish much loyalty between the employee and employer. This creates a transient work force that is difficult to manage. The people are the only thing that made the job bearable. This company has no culture...needs one bad!
Cons
Elimination of 401K, few holidays

Non challenging position
Confidential (Former Employee) –  IllinoisAugust 10, 2012
A compnay struggling to become better than #98. Company finally realized that they were in the wrong sector of the business and has started to make the conversion, to the local market requirements. Seems to be to little too late, with a long uphill battle to fight. Not a key name or player in the local markets.

Company has excessive report and monitoring, with redundant systems resulting in different conclusions. Weak upper and middle management is very evident. Decisions are based on the gut feeling and defy good decision principles. General upper is struggling to get into the market but is very focused on self image. Too many meetings and not enough really work.

Started a training program for most employees; this program was presented 20 years ago. They have an established work process and use it to the fullest when it should be used as a guideline. Company insistance on using the system at a cost that clients have to pay for.
Some employee exits were due to the lack of good judgemnt when using the work process, they felt it was a non value added function.

Middle management lacks good judgement and insists on using the entire procedures to the limit and does not recognize that the same result can be accomplished with a modified, less costly version.

Insufficient technical man power.
Cons
excessive monitoring and controls - kind of stuck in time

Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Oak Brook, ILApril 14, 2012
Having worked for Middough over a span of 8 years I can say the culture has recently changed. I would not recommend this company unless you are looking for short term employment. There is no growth potential and benefits are below industry standards.
Pros
nice facility and easy to get to.
Cons
no employee growth potential, no performance reviews.
