You won't hear Milgard Manufacturing say they don't do windows. Also known as Milgard Windows & Doors, the company makes windows and patio doors for the new home construction and home improvement markets. Its offerings include aluminum, vinyl, and wood clad windows, as well as wooden French doors and vinyl, fiberglass, and aluminum sliding doors. Milgard's wares are mostly sold through independent dealers to consumers, architects, and contractors. The company has 3,700 dealer locations and operates manufacturing and assembly locations throughout the western US, where it does most of its business. It is also active in Canada and Mexico. Milgard is owned by home improvement products group Masco Corporation.
Like other home products manufacturers, Milgard's revenue tends to follow the barometer of the nation's economy. Over the years, the company's sales have fluctuated as construction has slowed down, but Milgard has held strong by introducing new products and innovations. It has introduced a line of energy-efficient windows, allowing buyers to take advantage of federal energy tax credits. The company also introduced two new styles for its Style Line Series vinyl windows in 2012.
Maurice Milgard, Jr., and his son Gary founded Milgard as a glass shop in 1958. Masco acquired the firm from the Milgard family in 2001. – less
