Locker Room/ Facilities Attendant, San Francisco, CA - August 21, 2014
A typical day at work consists of handing out locker keys according to member preference, and a lot of cleaning. Work was very simple and straight forward, but can be tiresome on the busiest days. I learned that I truly have what it takes to hold down a 40+ hour a week job and how the chain of command with management works. I learned about how benefits work and also vacation and sick time since I hadn't had those at my previous jobs. I believe that I had some of the best co-workers around. I hear a lot of people complain about not getting along with their co-workers, but not me. I felt we were a real team working toward a common goal and we always stuck together and had each others backs. There were a few bumps here and there but we always worked it out. The hardest part of the job I would say be working in the Men's Executive locker room. Only one person is responsible for that area as opposed to the Daily side that had 2 employees at all times. So there would be a lot more things to clean and check on constantly. Finally, the most enjoyable part of the job is literally looking back on the work you had accomplished. If a place was filthy and you made it clean, it felt good knowing you put in that hard work by hand.
