Salary: $97,260 to $140,420 annually
An excellent career opportunity awaits you in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Milwaukee County is seeking a new Director of Transportation. This executive leader will collaborate to set the strategic direction for the Department, ensuring the effective management of the entire transportation system. This includes department operations, Mitchell International Airport, Transportation Services, Highway Maintenance, Fleet Management, and Transit Services. Milwaukee County is made up of 19 Local Municipalities within its 1,190 square miles. The director oversees over 470 employees and an annual budget of approximately $300mm. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor ‘s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field; Master’s Degree in Public Administration/Policy or Business Administration preferred; registration with the State of WI Licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) is highly preferred. Ten years of progressively responsible management experience in a public works or civil engineering environment, preferably a municipal or public works setting (including experience with airport, transit, fleet, highway, architecture, construction management, managing capital budgets). Other key requirements include: strong, proven leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively, thorough knowledge of transportation and public works; ability to successfully manage capital projects; proven financial management skills; exceptional ability to communicate effectively.
Residency in Milwaukee County is required within six months of appointment.
