MLERF was a very exciting job! I was able to meet new people daily, and gave back to the community through eye banking, and exams!

Terrible work place and will fire you for petty reasons
Supplies Coordinator (Former Employee), Kansas City, MONovember 16, 2011
Pros: pay was decent
Cons: management, working conditions, will fire you for petty reasons
I used to be the supplies coordinator for Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation. I loved this job at first, decent pay and pretty nice people, my sister got me the job there! I worked there for a month and a half and then they fired me....right after sending me to orientation, so I'm not sure there true reasons for letting me go as we had to travel – more... to get to orientation and they paid for it which you would think that they would not want to if they were going to fire me anyways. I was told I was "messy" and by messy let me clarify, when I came into my office space it had TWO small boxes on the ground and some supply boxes on the table I work on....that was considered "messy". I cleaned like crazy to make sure I was not accused of being "messy" again. No one ever saw my cleaning and the next time someone came down to my office was when I had some boxes out again and they said that was the main reason for letting me go. But then went to sat my sister down and told her about 5 other reasons as to why I was fired. Which were along the lines of: I was giving attitude, I had my "partner" come up to my work (keep in mind she did come up but she dropped of Excedrin for me...in the parking lot, which was to help the headaches I was getting because they had me working in an office with a black mold problem), I did not open a couple of boxes to check and make sure everything was sterile, and I did not do the FIFO ordering on the eye wash boxes when I put them away. I find ALL of those reason to be petty and the fact that they never brought this to my attention so I had no idea what I was doing wrong until they fired me. My sister does not always agree with me but she did tell them that it did not sound like me AT ALL, because I am a crazy nice person....you can ask literally anyone I have ever met. I assume everyone is nice and deserves a second chance until proven otherwise. I would never in my life give these people a second chance. They are horrible people to not tell me I was doing something wrong and then fire me because I did not fix it. They had told me not to be down in the office because it had a mold problem and did not want my headaches to get worse so I'm not quite sure how they expected me to be Mrs. Clean when I wasn't allowed down there. – less
