Easy to get in, not worth the stress
Appointment Setter (Current Employee) –  Metuchen, NJNovember 10, 2017
Recently left due to unreasonable expectations. Expect you to set 3-4 appointments a day with leads that don't qualify for the program. They'll allow people to lie to prospective customers in order to set an appointment.

Its laid back and flexible environment but they have too high of an expectation from ice cold leads. People who aren't homeowner, don't make enough, bills aren't high enough, or already have solar. They expect you to work miracles from the terrible leads they give you.

Its worth doing until you get the job you really want, but they'll let you go if you're not cut throat enough to force people to set an appointment with them.
Pros
Free lunch, cash bonuses, flexibility with scheduling
Cons
Unrealistic expectations, ice cold leads, deceptive from day one

Terrible company, poor upper managment and ownership
Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  New JerseyOctober 25, 2017
This company treats there field reps like dogs. Sending them to unconfirmed appointment, no shows, disqualified homes not elligable for solar, allows customers to cancel after right to cancel expires. Doesn't pay in full, diverts commissions from the employee to there profits. Penalizes for unsubmitted docs that have been submitted. Taking commissions from an employee if a customer cancels but keeps the monies for the company. Owes finance partner millions of dollars for cancelled jobs. Doesn't pay for additional training.
Do not even apply, signs and rumors are they are up for sale
Pros
some good people to work with

Lead Generation (Former Employee) –  Metuchen, NJOctober 10, 2017
The company culture is great and promotions are encouraged from within. However, lots of favoritism is involved with these promotions and wages aren't fair if you aren't liked. Management can be very condescending and will quickly throw you under the bus.

If you can work and not be bothered by unfairness and lies then this is the place for you. Be very wary of this company, very shady.

free food, nice culture

little breaks, long hours, favoritism

Good resume builder job, terrible work environment
Design (Former Employee) –  Metuchen, NJOctober 4, 2017
I have worked with several solar companies in the past and never have I seen one as poorly organized. When it comes to customers they do whatever it takes to put panels on the home, ignoring the customers wishes. They do this because the system, once on your home, is no longer their responsibility. The third party financing companies they use pay momentum as soon as the system is installed and they are then responsible for the system. The customer has never interacted with this company prior to install and are basically estranged by momentum afterwords.

Work as hard as you like. They often tout upward mobility and raises based on performance to encourage people to give it their all. After you do what it takes to improve the company, they say they ever asked you to take the time to do this and they won't be giving you a raise.

If you push for one, you're fired.

Most people here work for between 6 months to year while they look for a better job. Most find better soon and as a result this place is a revolving door as far as job stability is concerned.

Be wary of doing business in any way with this company. Its best not enter any financial commitments while employed here.

Solar Specialist (Current Employee) –  Metuchen, NJSeptember 3, 2017
You are on call 12 hours a day and get dispatched last minute to appointments. The solar business is oversaturated and old leads are just called over and over until they agree to meet with us.

Everyone on here is bitter because they couldn't sell
Solar Specialist (Current Employee) –  Brea, CAAugust 9, 2017
This company is great. They teach you a lot about solar and sales. A typical day at momentum will consist of 3 appointments. Call center employees are held accountable for vetting so, if you get a bad lead the customer probably lied on the phone. Management will help you out a lot when you are having trouble. The workplace is relaxed. Nobody is going to micro-manage you. The hardest part about this job is staying positive through the ups and downs that come with any sales job. In conclusion, this job isn't for everybody. If you have an entrepreneurial mind-set and you are social, you can make this job a career.

Compensation is a joke 😂😂😂
Solar Sales Specialist (Former Employee) –  Brea, CAJuly 7, 2017
They claim unlimited compensation, but they keep 1/2 of your commissions until 45 days later. This is to keep you from going somewhere else.

The leads they have aren't properly vetted. They all have poor credit so you won't be able to make a sale. Also, you will be driving 100 miles in one direction in California to meet your lead that is disqualified.

Average day I was spending 5 hours driving and 3 hours in front of customers pitching solar.

You won't know if you have an appointment for today or not. I have spent many days on call, waiting around for a lead to be assigned. Just to spend the day waiting. Prepare to put your life on pause.

Momentums CRM is always messing up, but they will "fine" you $$$ if it isn't updated.

Also, the draw isn't guaranteed. They won't pay if you aren't out there working miracles with bad leads.

PS -> the high salaries posted were done falsely by the company and not by employees.
Pros
free business cards

Bad leads, drive time, pay

Solar Panel Installer (Former Employee) –  Metuchen, NJMay 11, 2017
I loved the guys i worked with, but the company does not care about its workers. They basically treated us like dogs. If you asked for a raise, they would look at you like you have 10 heads. They treated the installers like we were nothing, basically. Even though we are the face of the company. Everyone else in the company, such as salespeople, got treated with utmost respect. As for the installers, not so much. Would not recommend working there as an installer. I learned a lot about solar at the company, but that is probably one on the only upsides to working there.
Pros
great co workers
Cons
no panel pay, below average hourly rate

Laid Back Environment
Project Manager (Current Employee) –  New JerseyMay 10, 2017
I previously worked for a different solar company that was shut down. I was reluctant to stay in the solar industry, but had multiple friends working for Momentum who encouraged me to apply. The interview process was laid back, and the recruiter was very straight and to the point-- no sugar coating, which was nice. I heard back from them within a few days of interviewing and had an offer by the end of that week. The company itself has that very young, start-up vibe to it which is great. Compensation is realistic, you can negotiate paid time off, and the expectations from the employer do not have a major impact on your personal life. I've been here for a few months and can say I truly enjoy the whirlwind that is a start-up in the solar industry! I'm excited to see what the future brings, and having that kind of confidence is a company is refreshing!
Pros
Easy commute, laid back environment, friendly staff, room for movement, fair compensation.
Cons
parking is tight, but that's it!
