A position within the Client Services Group, the Deployment Engineer provides technical expertise in deploying an appliance and software solution into banking and Financial Institution production environments along with special projects as assigned.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Support changes to existing hardware and OS Linux infrastructure including patches, users, filesystems, and kernel parameters.
Troubleshoot hardware and OS problems including performance tuning.
Work with database and application teams to gather requirements for new projects and expansion to existing applications.
Deliver Linux servers (hardware and virtual) for new applications and services.
Perform server capacity planning for existing services and provide recommendations to application owners.
Support existing server infrastructure in an on-call capacity as part of a team rotation.
Provide basic to intermediate technical production/applications support and assistance for Financial Institutions - Financial Institutions Enterprise class customers.
Provides feedback and shapes production support procedures, policies and documentation where none exist or where they are stale and need to be updated.
Efficiently organizes and addresses multiple production issues, customer requests and inquiries from several sources, delegating when appropriate.
Experience and Qualifications
Must be extremely familiar with computer networking and network protocols, such as FTP, telnet, HTTP(S), and SSH; proxies; and firewalls.
Familiar with Cisco VPN concentrators and Pix firewalls.
Familiar with basic load balancer technology. Understanding of F5 load balancers is a plus.
Excellent shell and perl scripting skills
Must have a basic understanding of relational database concepts such as table joins, indexes, data types, etc.
A working knowledge of trouble-shooting and problem resolution methodologies and also have the ability to develop, in a short period of time, intermediate working knowledge of company applications, production support policies and procedures.
A strong dedication to World Class Customer Service, strong management skills and hands-on capabilities.

Is self motivated; will work well autonomously and within a team environment.
Ability to travel as required, approximately 10%
Experienced in designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and tuning Linux systems in a medium to large enterprise environment.
A Degree in the Computer Science, or Information Technology discipline.
5-7 yrs experience as Red Hat Linux systems administrator - at least three in a senior role.
3+ years experience with Apache/Tomcat in a Unix/Linux environment, including configuring and tuning Java JVMs
Background as a customer-facing consultant is highly desired
3+ years experience with Apache/Tomcat in a Unix/Linux environment
3+ years working with SQL databases: Oracle 11G, , MsSQL
3+ years working with scripting languages: Perl and shell. Intermediate to senior expertise.
