Special Day Class Teacher (Former Employee), Salinas, CAFebruary 11, 2013
Pros: career growth opportunities
Cons: effects of budget cuts on education funding.
I start my school day by taking my 2 of my students to the cafeteria to pick up the breakfast. The 2 students will set the table for breakfast. The rest of the students are independently preparing for breakfast and morning activities. The day generally is always productive for both the students and the teaching staff. each students has a school tasks – more... and functional activities to accomplish for the day. I learned a lot of good experiences, I learned the value of life with my students. Its not how huge change or accomplishment is made for each day, but how much time and opportunities are provided to each students in each day. Routine and systematic classroom management are very essential in ensuring the efficiency of the teaching staff and students success. The hardest part of the job is when my students who have severe medical conditions are getting very ill and missed school and some passed away. Though most of it is very enjoyable, each school day when I see my students coming in with various facial expression, some are excited, some are fearful and some wondering. Another one is when I see them leaving the classroom to go their assigned outdoor task. Some will attend mainstreaming classes, some will volunteer for work and some will go to their supported employment. – less
