I worked in two different positions at Montrose County. The first was the best job I've ever had and helped set the tone for working there. I loved it but the program went away.
In my second position, the work was great and extremely rewarding. My co-workers were amazing people who were there for you and were like a family for the most part (some bad apples in the bunch). The management team in that department (Eligibility) was terrible. They seemed to foster an environment of paranoia. They would micro manage you as a person, even clocking how many times you used the bathroom in a day, but would offer very little help when it came to actual work. You could be written up for being even a minute late to work, with no options of staying late to make up the time. And could be written up for leaving after 5 or not taking lunch EXACTLY at noon (seriously, got in trouble one day for taking lunch at 12:05 and was told I had to forfeit those five minutes. It was five minutes!). HR was no help, but the County Commissioners were.
I've been told the manager I had has been dismissed since I left, so things might have improved in that department.
