Good work life balance
Assistant Vice President (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 24, 2017
Nice place to get trained in credit. Work life balance is good. Career trajectory is extremely slow and highly political. Compensation is almost always much below all of the exit options.
Pros
work life balance
Cons
Compensation, career trajectory

Enjoyed working as human resources administrator for 21 years.
Human Resources Administrator (Former Employee) –  New York, NY62,000May 4, 2017
Worked as team in human resorces with creative co-workers. Learned all aspects of human resources from recruiting to training to benefits administration. Very busy atmosphere. Was able to work independently managing several projects. Hardest part was constant interruptions . Most enjoyable was interacting and helping internal clients.
Pros
Learned all areas of business
Cons
Commute too long from Ronkonkoma

Moody's is great for work-life balance but not so great for career development/salary. Management can be resistant to change given the highly regulated climate

Good environment, bizarre management
Associate Analyst (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 28, 2017
Work/life balance is excellent, easy to work from home, great parental leave, 401k, health insurance. Pay not amazing, but great benefits.

Management not on the ball, makes very strange decisions and not really clued in on what happens at the firm; bizarre and secretive promotion process.
Pros
Great benefits, collegial atmosphere, smart and friendly people
Cons
Weird management, poor morale, unclear how to advance

Co-workers are around the millennial age, but management is not quick to adapt to change. It's a great start for the cubicle life

Lower Manhattan location was great
Associate Director (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 16, 2016
If you like working in NY city this was a great place to work. Located in the wall street area with easy access to everything New York has to offer. Benefit and pay were great.

Great experience to start with
Associate Analyst (Current Employee) –  New York, NYNovember 30, 2015
Great place to get credit analysis experience. Some analysts are really great with providing direction, others sometimes don't want to take the time. Work live balance is not bad and the culture is usually relaxed. Best to get the experience and move on; if you're looking for a place that will promote or advance, the chances are pretty slim. Moody's definitely hires more outside of the firm than promoting from within.
Pros
Great credit experience
Cons
Lack of advancement opportunities for many

Becoming more Corporate and less Personal
Assistant Vice President (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 10, 2015
The company went from having a collegial, affirming work environment to being contentious and back-biting. As corporate revenue mushroomed, staff reshuffling and managerial indifference seemed to increase as well. Management would boast of the company's success and the size of the IT budget, and at the same time be very stingy when it came to training, development tools, and workstations. One thing they did well was to allow for work from home.
I felt that their technology was plagued by indecisiveness and a culture of inertia.
Pros
Located in lower Manhattan. Robust business model.
Cons
Penny wise, pound foolish.
