A typical day for me would be initiating or following up on information with hospitals and insurance Case Managers, Adjusters, Discharge Planners, Durable Medical Equipment Representatives and Infusion Companies. This includes preparing Letters of Agreement, obtaining written orders from discharging physicians, obtaining authorizations from payers sources. I oversee event preparation for the Community Wellness Nurses by arranging for clinical education at churches, schools, Health Fairs, BP screenings and "Ask a Nurse" activities. Responds to Billing and Hospice concerns regarding language in contracts. Initiates new Agreements or Letters of Agreement for patient specific clinical services. I respond to Requests for Proposals, credentialing requests and completes various reports.
I work as a liaison with different department VP's, Directors and Managers of our Hospice, Skilled Care, Private Duty and Behavioral Health Agencies. I learn so much from my the Executive Team and my co-workers.
The worst part of my job is that at times I have so much to do until I have to step back to prioritize or the job could become overwhelming.
I love the diversity of my job because I get an opportunity to interact with so many people.
