Part-time, experience preferred, veterinary techinician/assistant wanted to join our team at Morgantown Veterinary Care in Star City, WV. We are a full service veterinary hospital looking for assistants and technicians to support the veterinarians, council clients and help pets.
Approx. 20-30 hrs/wk. Full-time possible. Pay commensurate with experience and ability. Flexible schedule a must.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Support the veterinarian to ensure quality veterinary care for all pets. Maintain medical charts, complete preparatory procedures for veterinarians and ensure that clients and Pets are comfortable in the hospital.
One key prerequisite for members of our hospital teams is a commitment to keeping Pets healthy and to treating each Pet like family.
Support the veterinarians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all Pets, advocates for Pets, educates clients on all aspects of Pet health, and ensures a safe and effective hospital environment.
*Must be available evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
#Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian to ensure the best quality Pet care and to maximize the veterinarian's productivity. Lead veterinarians and veterinary medical team through appointments and communicate with the other team members to maintain the flow of patients.
# Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes performing procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance, completing preparatory work for other procedures, ensuring that clients and Pets are comfortable in the hospital, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical Pets.
# Educate clients about preventive care, Pet health needs, any diagnosis or treatment, hospital services and other issues.
# Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
# Ensure the safety of Pets, clients and team members by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
# Understand and follow state guidelines regarding duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
# Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
# Associate's or Bachelor's degree, veterinary technician certification or licensure preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; High School Diploma required.
# Customer service experience a plus.
# Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training is a plus.
# One year related experience a plus, but always willing to consider the right people.
