Mozilla is looking for an IT Architect that will lead the Information Technology architecture that connects the Mozilla mission, strategy and goals to the IT strategy. Mozilla IT is responsible for the traditional IT services and the delivery of many back-end services that support the product and services delivered to millions of users (Firefox and Firefox OS) and 10,000+ volunteers and developers.

This new role is a catalyst in transforming IT to be the provider of choice and achieving competitive advantage through information technology services. In this role, she/he will have architectural accountability on the entire technology stack which includes infrastructure, web services architecture, data warehousing and analytics, SaaS, IaaS and application development.

Some key projects the IT architect will be responsible for:

The complete technology architecture, framework and plans to achieve a 70% Factory IT with the use of virtualization, IaaS and create self-service capabilities with an automated life cycle management service model

Partnering with product engineers, external partners and the community, lead the architecture and roadmap for the new and radically different Communication and Collaboration tools and services allowing Mozillian’s of all types to work better, smarter and be the coolest thing ever

Develop the architecture and roadmap to a harmonized user authentication and authorization service for internal and SaaS applications

Create an architecture gap analysis and proposal for our critical Bugzilla application servicing over 10,000+ users globally and the core of the product development and lifecycle at Mozilla

And other things you will be responsible for:

Long-term strategic responsibility for IT planning and leading large and transformational project implementations

Establishment of the global IT technical architecture and roadmaps, frameworks, blueprints and artifacts

In close collaboration and partnership with IT Managers and SME’s, develops standards, guidelines and policies on architecture and design decisions

Creates conceptual models and visual abstractions of solutions to communicate the architectural importance and value to stakeholders

Translates architectural solutions into specifications that can be formalized and executed by IT teams

Actively assists projects in using the architecture, architecture artifacts and principles

Develops business cases and cost-benefit analysis of new strategies and technologies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, actively listens and effectively conveys written and spoken information with both senior business executives and technical staff and colleagues

Excellent interpersonal skills, and effective in interfacing with internal customers and delivery teams, fostering collaboration and establishing strong partnerships, teamwork and relationships

Strong ability to negotiate, manage and resolve conflicts

Demonstrated experience and results in delivering enterprise scale architectures at a global scale

Demonstrated experience in defining and leading IT architecture, product development, and /or infrastructure engineering domains with responsibility for a variety of technology solutions

Self driven, enthusiastic and contagious in the delivery of work and results across the organization

Demonstrated experience in the evaluation and decision making of different computing models and services such as SaaS, Paas, IaaS and on-premise IT systems

Experience with Open Source solutions

Experience as a people leader and/or project manager of infrastructure or applications development teams

Experience in data and information architectures, Hadoop, and Hbase solutions, MySql, Postgres, Memcache, Redis, mapreduce, vertica, elastic search

Experience with other infrastructure technologies such as Zookeeper, Ganglia, Zeus load balancers, Netapp, Juniper, Data Domain, Redhat Linux

Experience with modern web standards such as HTML5, CSS3, DOM, etc

Experience working application development technologies such as Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby, Jinja2, Django, Smarty
