Comfortable and secure work.
Intern (Former Employee), New York, NY – April 25, 2013
While the MTA does not have the prestige of other companies, they appropriately compensate and reward hard work and effort.

Everyone I worked with was friendly, helpful and maintained a team first attitude.

The work/life balance was solid as well.

Learning workplace
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), New York, NY – January 31, 2013
Pros: interacting with different department, units and individuals'
Cons: budget cuts, was laid off from work.
A typical day at work involves assisting multiple managers and sometines the CFO. Meeting with managers first and getting important to do business assignments ready for the start of the day. Consulting with various departments, directors and office workers. Handling open invoice analysis report for accounts payable to various vendors, Developing and – more... producing excel spreadsheet reports for various contracts for end of year review.
The lesson learned is to take advantage of the free employee courses offered by the company to enhance one's skill. Be very well organized, always have an extra copy of documents prepared. Stay away from office gossip. Be focused, detailed and organized.
Management could be a bit more organized and less wasteful.
In the workplace you meet some friendly co-workers and a tiny group that tries to sabotage your work.
The hardest part of the job was working full-time and attending evening graduate classes with assignments and group projects and trying to work around other employees work schedule.
The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with different indivduals from other departments, learning to use other softwares and working inside a few different departments. – less

Work Life Balance
Conductor (Current Employee), New York, NY – January 7, 2013
Pros: free metro card
Cons: no personal days off
MTA New York City Transit is a wonderful organization to work for. The only attribute the company is lackin is Work Life Balance. It is so difficult to obtain a day off. The department I work in is Rapid Transit Operations. There is no structure or organization in this department; therefore this contributes to a disfunctional department. The Job as – more... a Conductor is easy and fun, because I love helping the customers find there way around New York City daily. My Co-Workers are friendly and we support eachother with the daily issues within MTA New York City Transit. I believe that there is dignity in all work, and my postion as a conductor is not my field of study. I make the best of the postion due to the fact that it provides me and my family a way of survival. – less

Fast paced and leading edge technology
Operations Manager, Training Coordinator (Current Employee), New York, NY – April 25, 2012
Pros: fast paced and multi-tasking a must
Cons: all good things must come to an end sometime.
I have had the luxury of learning logistics and warehousing with the MTA for teh past 9 years. It has been a very fun time learning the way the inventory flows from forecast to customer. The hardest part of teh job is tracking all of the inventory throughout 68 warehouses in the New York City area in an 8 hour day. Most of the time, I work 10-12 hours – more... a day - this is also the most enjoyable part of the job. – less
