Busy and somewhat stressful.
Conductor (Former Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYSeptember 18, 2017
The job wasn't difficult, what I discovered was that you had to have proper rest in order to function, and to be alert at all times. Most of the time management was supportive and I dealt with different cultures. The hardest part of the job was not getting enough rest especially working nights, for it was difficult sleeping especially when one is use to working days all their lives, it was a very big adjustment. The most enjoyable part of it was knowing that you had no incidents at the end of the day and every thing worked out well for at times it was very stressful.
Pros
The pros were riding for free and having great benefits
Cons
The cons were not being able to pick the time and breaks.

Bridge and Tunnel Officer (Former Employee) –  New York, NY 10004September 16, 2017
plenty of room for growth or diverse positions within the organization. Very desirable position with plenty of benefits. This company is very important to the umbrella company in producing revenue for its parent company the MTA. TBTAk is largely responsible for upkeep and the maintaining of the MTA as a whole with a lot of its revenue also going to the rest of the state for infrastructure.
Pros
a lot of perks
Cons
very top heavy with management

Electrical Technician (Former Employee) –  New York, NYSeptember 15, 2017
It was a great job. The benefits were great but the travel could have been better. Management stayed to themselves and let you work as long as you did your job and did it well. They only came and messed with you if your paperwork was incorrect.

Excellent. It is a laid back company. However, they do not want to hire young people as much. They pay good salaries and the environment is good. The people are nice

Intense work not enough pay!
Receptionist/ Operator (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 5, 2017
Many calls are being made for the starting. $9 and hour is what you make for the first year. After that, you can get your 1 dollar raise. Very stressful if people don't show up to work. Has its quirks. Overall wouldn't recommend it as a go to job.
Pros
insurance!
Cons
Scheduling sucked.

Best Place to work
CAR EQUIPMENT CLEANER (Current Employee) –  Manhattan, NYJune 15, 2017
I'm a current employee i love the environment of dealing with customers. You don't have to stay in one department you can advance or relocate to a different work location. The general moto just show up and be on time and you will be ok. Hardest place to get into so when you are selected you are elite. Only you can fire yourself its the easiest place to work. You have to really mess up to be fired.Make every day count as we in public eyes every day.
Pros
Salary, Benefit and Perks.
Cons
Management just approach and ask questions no display of respect in terms of introduction.

Very fast paced
Bridge & Tunnel Officer (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 12, 2017
This job tests your overall abilities to be a fast thinker on your toes and a quick decision maker when it comes to responsibilities at work. Customer interaction was key at this job because while you were in the booth all you had was you your register and the customer. There was no time to be distracted by other things on the job due to the cash box discipline you needed to have. I enjoyed my time there at work.
Pros
overtime was always available
Cons
Overtime was mandatory

Bus Operator (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMay 25, 2017
I really enjoyed working for MTA. The benefits are GREAT! and the fact that you don't have a supervisor looking over your shoulder at all times is a plus. It was my own fault that I was terminated.

Very Unorganized
Driver (Former Employee) –  Flint, MIMay 24, 2017
The company is very unorganized. There is no chance for advancement. The tell you one thing and then do something different. The instructors are very rude and get annoyed if you ask questions. They except way to much work for very little pay.

Full Fare Communications Representative (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 22, 2017
I have worked almost 2 years and love the staff but do not like not being able to advance into a full time position with benifits. That would be my only issue.
Pros
A consistent work space to be in.
Cons
Budgetary reasons they will employ contractors for years without advancing them further.
