Financial Aid Director/Senior Advisor
Evaluates financial needs of students from a variety of sources including documentation of financial status and personal interviews. Awards Financial Aid according to Title IV, government and institutional regulations and guidelines. Creates the Financial Aid Package for students that have become eligible from various sources.
Example of Duties
Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, money management and financial planning: individualizes information to the particular needs and situation of the student.
Collects and/or analyzes financial data on students to determine aid eligibility and make awards within federal and/or institutional guidelines including but not limited to Pell Grants and Direct Loans. Administer Title IV federal student financial aid programs as well as state and alternative loans. Maintain compliance with financial aid regulatory requirements as it pertains to federal, state, accrediting agencies and school policies and procedures.
Evaluates unusual/mitigating circumstance documentation or information provided by the student: exercises professional judgment by making adjustment or revisions to costs, contribution, need or dependency status as exceptions to the prescribed process.
Answers questions, inquiries or requests from students and parents in person or in writing regarding financial aid programs and eligibility.
Analyzes various system generated reports such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines: notifies students of changes in eligibility of awards and alternatives to amend the situation.
Interfaces with students and lenders, third party servicers, guarantee agencies and/or staff to resolve issues
Assists with other financial aid activities such as outreach, reporting and monitoring.
Bachelor's Degree Preferred, one to three years of directly related experience in financial aid required, knowledge and skill in automated processing, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and ability to effectively use computer technology. Proprietary school experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate- candidates who have demonstrated financial aid and/or bursar experience in an education setting. Proficiency with MS Office, the Internet and database software systems.
Strong exposure & understanding of Title IV funding and Return of Title IV
This is a permanent, full-time salaried position which includes heath benefits. Salary range negotiable DOE.
