Terrible place to be employed

If you don't fit in with certain groups, you will be made to feel like an outcast. People will talk about you behind your back and spread rumors. Adults behave like adolescents and management lacks any type of sense whatsoever and will side with employees that have been there longer than you no matter what even if you are being harassed. People will set you up to make it look like you are making mistakes when you really didn't do anything wrong. No understanding from management if you have sick children or have issues outside of work life. In addition, compensation is pathetic regardless of how many years experience or the type of educational background you have. You will hear about new hires fresh out of school getting paid more than you when you have years experience including a degree.

I love the people in my unit,as a perdiem staff I dont get any beneffits but overall I am happy working in this hospital,good team work and best supervisors i have ever worked with.

Management not open to new ideas

If you want to work in a environment that is open to incorporating new ideas and ways of doing things this is not the place to work for.
Many employees especially managers have been in positions for many years, have other staff members do their work for them and have very poor work ethics. I have been told by other employees that these people are "lifers".
They do not do evidence based nursing.
The environment can be quite hostile for RN and NP's especially when the MD's like to yell at you for things unrelated to the care that is being given.
Coverage for professional conferences is 1 day a year
Vacation is 5-7 days and many staff are sent home when volume is low even and have to use their vacation in these circumstances.
No professional atmosphere.
Pay is basic, coverage for professional expenses, RN, NP, professional memberships must be argued for.
Stay clear if you want to grow your career
This especially includes the Clinics that manage Diabetes

Great small local community hospital. All employees are supportive and helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. All areas of the hospital work together to heal the patient as a whole.

Least professional organization that I have worked for

This is a struggling hospital with several long time employees who have not kept up with advances in medical/pharmaceutical therapy who really affect the performance of this hospital. There are many caring and hardworking doctors, nurses, support personnel and technicians, most relatively new hires. Unfortunately there are some bad apples, most in supportive care roles, that have no business working at a hospital..... without exception these are long term employees who feel they are untouchable. Unfortunately, the bad apples decrease morale and make everyone else's day harder and negatively impact patient care. The hospital is struggling financially and relies on part-time people to cut costs. Continuity of care suffers greatly. . Since the employees who have been there a long time have full time schedules they can dictate what happens as there are too many part-time employees who can't really can't keep track of the "bad apples."
I would suggest everyone's job description and duties be reevaluated. Many long time employees need more work or their schedules cut as they don't have enough to do and spend their time foisting off their work on someone else, while everyone else works and works and works.

Salary is way below market. Unless, of course, if you are a long time employee.

Friendly environment that brings everyone together to work as a team

Nashoba Valley Medical Center really encourages everyone to be friendly to staff members and patients. The hospital trains every employee to say hi to everyone you pass in the hall to create a friendly and family style environment. This is a small hospital where everyone knows everyone and creating a friendly environment makes it easier for people to get to know each other and work more efficiently together.

The co-workers are nice people. Worked the night shift which was quiet and you could get work done. The problem with working nights is that supervisors are not there to see work being done, they hear stuff third hand.
