Computer Technician (Current Employee), Campus wideJune 29, 2014
My typical day of work consists of both remote and on site jobs. I have learned many things during my employment. During my employment i've learned how to work as a part of a team, in-depth troubleshooting and research skills used to identify various issues. My coworkers are all very pleasant and we learn things from each other daily. Due to the skills – more... and confidence i have gained and my love for computers i don't consider any part of my job in particular as hard. The most enjoyable part of my job is resolving problems. – less

Cashier (Former Employee), Garden City, NYMarch 21, 2013
Pros: free lunch
Cons: transporting food all over
Clock in and go straight to the register. Worked on register for a couple hours and also stocked drinks and food on shelves. I learned how to work with customers and create a fun positive environment. Management was fine could of been a little bit better. My co- workers often mad mistakes and i had to fix it. Hardest part of the job was transporting – more... food from one wing of the campus to the other. The best part of the job was meeting new faces and having interesting co workers. – less

Pros: study at lunch time
Cons: short breaks, no free lunches
My work was build around my class schedule. Some days i would go to work at eight or ten in the morning depending on my class schedule. I would say hello to my fellow co-workers . i would sit down answer the phone if it rings and take messages. Also i would file the forms that were put on my desk. The hard part of the job was dealing with rude people – more... on the phone and co-workers being inappropriate. – less

Math Tutor (Former Employee), Garden City, NYOctober 8, 2012
Tutoring was a typical day at work everyday. Everybody has a different way of learning so sometimes switching up the style of teaching is usually the hardest thing to do. I enjoyed helping others they would always come back and tell me how they passed their exams because of my help, so it felt good.

Orientation Leader (Former Employee), Garden City, NYApril 16, 2012
Pros: academic advisement, schedule flexibility
Cons: seasonal job.
A typical day either consisted of providing informative campus tours to new or prospective students, and working at a designated information desk.

I learned about the history of the campus, and how it is one of the most diverse schools in the U.S.

Management is understanding and fair.

Co-workers were easy to get along with, and made the job fun.

The – more... hardest part was speaking in front of a classroom full of new students the first time, but it became easier as I went further.

The most enjoyable part was meeting new people, outings with the co-workers, and attending events. – less
