Productive work place with great management
Tutor/administrative assistant (Current Employee), Lees Summit, MO – April 18, 2013
I learned that no matter how hard you work that there really isnt any place for advancement if you are the low man on the totem pole. Management is great, they try to make sure everyone is taken care of. Co-workers are great, will go aboe and beyond to make sure you feel special if you are having a hard time as well as if its your birthday. The hardest – more... part of my job is making sure that I am at a moments notice there for my students to help them. The most enjoyable part of my job is watching them understand and fully comprehend what they need to. I love seeing there faces light up when they accomplish what they need to. – less

Great Employees
Director of Admissions (Former Employee), Bloomington, MN – April 2, 2013
Great employees, short term minded management. My favorite part was witnessing life transformations of my students. No paycheck in the world can match the feeling of watching students at graduation.

Worst job I've ever had
Recruiting and Admissions Advisor (Former Employee), Weldon Springs, MO – December 11, 2012
The school is basically a fraud. The employees are over worked and underpaid. They rip off their students and there is NO job security. It is basically a sales position. They claim to be there to help "save lives" I am pretty sure that they ruin them. Poor students have no clue what they are getting into, reps cannot tell them, and at the end of the – more... day it is all about how many people you screwed over... I mean enrolled. – less

Worked us hrd but paid well.
Admissions Advisor (Former Employee), Allen, TX – November 16, 2012
Pros: pretty good pay, great opportunities
Cons: hours are all over the place, slow communication, messy management, in fighting, sales, sales before education
This place gives you the opprtunity to advanced quickly if you brown nose enough. I really liked my coworkers though. They were down to earth and really worked hard for our students. When i was there, we were in a time of transistions so it was difficult to pull the numbers that we needed but we worked hard as a team. Long hours most weeks were difficult. – more... I was the only person in the office with a young family and they did not take kindly to the adjustments that required. This is a great job for someone who who is single or newly married- basically childless because they make no concessions. – less

Only for Sales people, if not interested in Sales Do Not Apply
Admissions Advisor (Former Employee), Allen, TX – August 4, 2012
Pros: they do try to make a good atmosphere for the employees
Cons: employee success is only based on number of students you bring in, if not enough you will not have a job.
Was ok for the first few months, they were telling you that it is all about the student and what they want, but when it comes down to it, it was all about numbers.

If you are not wanting to be in Sales Do Not take this job it is not a True Academic Advising job as you are lead to belive.

This is a true sales position. No bonuses for the low pay. Your – more... sales goal/expectation will increase 2-3x per quarter.

Dose not have good benefits for what you pay; especially if you are in Texas, may be ok in another state.

If you love sales and like persuading people to pay a high cost of tuition, then go for it. – less

Caring and supportive environment
Director of Admissions (Current Employee), Lewisville, TX – June 26, 2012
Pros: great place to start your career in higher education
Cons: limited job opportunities
Nau is great for individuals that are new to the industry. Managing advisers dials, interviews, and campus visits take up majority of your time.

This job is very mundane and remedial
Admissions Advisor (Current Employee), Secaucus New Jersey – June 16, 2012
Pros: you can collect a check as long as your numbers are decent
Cons: everything else
This is a sales job with base pay. After a six month period if your numbers are not up to par , you will be fired. The work enviornment is very immature and idiotic. Management has unreasonable expectations and no solutions to problems arise within the campus. They constantly ask questions that are irrelevant to the results they are seeking . And lastly – more... ,they say that they want you to succeed however they do nothing to help you succeed – less

Tools and Part attendant (Current Employee), St. Paul, MN – June 13, 2012
I work for DoD Army National Guard full time. I have job security and would reccomend that every one join the arm. Hardest part about the job is deployements. Best thing about the job is knowing that my salary and my job is secure.

Can be a lot of fun, but is more like a sales job than an advisory job.
Admissions Advisor (Current Employee), Lee's Summit, MO – May 15, 2012
Pros: hour lunch and fun co-workers
Cons: work odd hours, bad lead sources, very much a sales job, and coaching consists of "just dial more"
The hardest part of this job is the dialing. There are days where you only talk to two or three people and they didn't even request information for school. The leads don't seem to be coming from a very reliable source. Need new leads. The most enjoyable part of this job is seeing the lives that you help change. There is a lot of pressure to enroll high – more... numbers, and when you don't hit high numbers-you lose your job. Feels a lot like sales and not so much an advisory position. – less
