General Summary
The National Black MBA Association seeks a Director, Corporate Partner Development, who will be a major contributor for revenue growth and strategic partnerships. This senior level person will be responsible for initiating contact with potential partners, defining the scope of the relationship, identifying profitable deal points, negotiating transactions, and managing the implementation within the organization. The candidate will be able to analyze complex data, think strategically about the industry and product, and possess strong interpersonal and deal-making skills. Reporting to the President/CEO, this exceptional individual will be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, and an excellent communicator who can represent the association in front of business partners.

Key Initiatives:

Fund Development
Develop and implement a multi-year and annual fund development department plan to address areas such as corporate and private grants, corporate donors, public relations, and a capital campaign.

Business Development
Need to be superior at prospecting, asking questions, developing a referral network, building relationships and uncovering meaningful needs of potential partners.

Sales Operations
Lead the proper management and compliance of all sales related contracts. These agreements should be developed and administered to be consistent with NBMBAA revenue and profit objectives.

Relationship Management
Cultivate relationships with corporate, individual and community supporters and donors. Work with CEO to create a prospect list for cultivation and strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities
The creation of a Strategic Sponsorship and Fund Development Plan that achieves the annual financial targets of the association and supports the association’s mission.
Develop the business model for partnership opportunities and work with President/CEO to define requirements;
Manage and coordinate development activity, including cultivation, market assessment, due diligence, valuation, negotiations, and contract review and transaction execution.
Proactively assess the success of existing partnerships and implement modifications to enhance performance.
Working closely with the Executive Management Team to develop and implement an effective strategy for prospecting, cultivating and soliciting new sponsorship;
Ensure detailed knowledge and understanding of NBMBAA’s Strategic Plan; key initiatives; and overall business to communicate applicable information about the organization effectively.
Review and advise internal departments on agreements and any existing partner issues; work effectively with corporate counsel.
Develop plans and strategies for maintaining ongoing relationships with sponsors;
Organize, direct and implement Fundraising and Business Development initiatives. Work with philanthropists, high-net-worth individuals, successful businesses, plus the community to secure donations, establish relationships, and meet fundraising objectives.
Work collaboratively with the President/CEO and the Board as an integral senior partner in fulfilling the mission and fundraising objectives of NBMBAA.
Know and/or identify key business, foundation program officers, corporate executives, community leaders, and other potential supporters of the Association and cultivate and encourage their participation in and knowledge of the organization’s mission and programs;
Ensure that objectives are met and that plans are implemented in a manner that supports the team effort of the development staff;
Provide regular reports about funding progress, to the President/CEO;
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a strategic thinker with very strong quantitative/qualitative analytical skills, contract development experience, and exceptional interpersonal abilities.
Must have a good professional network and experience in negotiating deals; problem-solving and presentation skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field and a minimum 10 years successful relationship building and fund development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous sales management experience highly desirable; Project management skills required; ability to be a self-starter and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and gain the respect and support of varied and changing constituencies including chapter Presidents, staff members, Board members, potential sponsors, volunteers and the like.
A track record as an effective communicator skilled at writing as well as verbally; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other kinds of material to enhance fundraising; comfortable with computers and technology.
Extensive Travel required.
