Productive workplace
Financial Advisor (Former Employee), Danville, VA – April 17, 2013
Pros: flexibility
Cons: budget cut backs reason for loss of position
I truly enjoyed assisting students with obtaining access to financial options to further their education. National College provided me with the opportunity to use my skills on a daily basic to assist other. The experience that I obtained there assisted my growth as a person and a leader. My co-workers were great and very informative. If there was a – more... position available I would work there again. – less

Excellent college environment
Adjunct Faculty (Former Employee), Kettering, Ohio – March 10, 2013
Excellent college environment for adult education. Faculty was well respected by the staff and the students. I enjoyed seeing "the light" turn on as the students started to understand the materials. I was responsible for teaching Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Horrible place to work!!
Inside Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Dayton, Ohio – February 17, 2013
Pros: physically easy work
Cons: negative vibes, no respect, mentally draining, mico managed
The admissions reps are under pressure to pull people in from inquiries that come in. Most of these are people wanting something other than what is offered, just looking for a job and accidentally hit wrong button, wanting online(not offered in ohio) and are mad that you are one of about 15 colleges suddenly calling!! No excuses ... Very negative environment!! – more... This is a college that to the upper management it is just about making money. Some teachers really care and some staff do too but at the end of the day it a numbers game just like any other SALES job. Beware turnover is crazy! I feel these for profit schools will be gone soon because of the high tuition, low transferability of credits and lack of respect among the community. – less

Pressure filled workplace based on admission numbers and not the quality of education
Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Knoxville, TN – February 11, 2013
Pros: 1 hour lunches
Cons: bi weekly pay, no bonuses, its a money game with the students to them
Weekly turnover, I had 3 campus directors in 6 months. Raises are unheard of and the pressure that they put on the admissions team for enrollment numbers makes for a terrible work environment.

Being a tutor was wonderful and rewarding
Tutor (Former Employee), Lexington, KY – January 10, 2013
Pros: maintaining my own knowledge base, helping others
Cons: not enough money
Although I did not have a good experience with National College itself, I loved being a tutor for them because it allowed me to help other students and to maintain my own knowledge.

There's a quite atmosphere, conducing to learning and attaining education resources.
Instructor/Librarian (Current Employee), Willoughby Hills, OH – January 5, 2013
Pros: advantages to attending national college include tranquility, small class size, and flexible education plans.
Cons: disadvantages include inaccessibility to instructors after classroom time, limited leisure time options.
National College is conveniently located off the intersection of two main highways. It's atmosphere is quiet and personable. The staff guide the daily visitors on tours of all the relevant areas for a prospective student. The curricular study options are an accurate reflection of the job market, and preparation procedures are in place to launch the – more... next student's study cycle. Once the education process begins, very competent support is offered from adjunct instructors, library/media staff, student services personnel and even the campus director. – less

Like a second family
Student Services (Former Employee), Danville, KY – December 27, 2012
Pros: potluck lunches, secret pals, community work
Cons: healthcare
Everyday I would come into work and scan documents into our database, file any necessary paperwork, then I would assist prospect students in funding their dreams to attend college.
I learned so much from National. I learned rules and regulations for federal guidelines, how to run credit checks, how to create reports, and so much more.
The management – more... at National was so great. They went above and beyond to assist all employees in thier personal and professional lives.
I absolutely adored all of my co-workers. They was truly a second family to me.
The hardest part of my job was making phone calls to former students who owed the school money.
The best part of my job was I helped so many people make their dreams become a reality. – less

The jobs are there for people with the right skills - which National College graduates have. Sometimes it just takes finding the right person to assist with those goals!

Poor inexperienced management
Adjunct Instructor (Former Employee), Tennessee – December 2, 2012
Cons: horrible attitude toward employees with very low pay.
Nepotism abounds in the company. Continued violation of labor laws with a poor attitude toward employees. National College does not have an Employee Relations Dept or even someone in charge of employee relations. They even make you sign a form that states if you say anything bad about National College you agree to pay a hefty legal fine. Stay away from – more... this place. – less

Poorly managed and no interest in employee well being
Campus Director (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, IN – December 1, 2012
Pros: no pros unless you are out of work and must have employment
Cons: demeaning, tactless and highly critical superior
The Campus Director reports to a person in a remote location (another state) who provides no clear direction and is consistently rude, demeaning, condesending and seldom visits the campus. Accordingly, be preapred to receive belittling phone calls on a routine basis Terminations are made on a whim and are typically based on personality rather than performance – more... considerations. The work atmosphere is often tense, unsupportive and is subject to high turnover. The interactions with corporate managers only serve to feed the bitterness of the operation and make professional success at this location highly unlikely. – less

Poor management and Structure
Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, IN – November 5, 2012
Pros: hours and pay
Cons: management support, structure, high turnover, and unstable environment
The management from the campus level up to head quarters level have a lack knowledge on running a business. There is a lack of structure and the student body notice how unstable it appears. The promises made to students when they sign up suddenly are not made reality for them. The students are left with a huge amount of debt and little support to find – more... a job. – less

A career college that focuses on medical, business, and IT careers
Admissions representative (Former Employee), Dayton, OH – November 2, 2012
The school is focused on enrollment. A typical day for me included primarily outbound phone calls to prospective students with the purpose of setting appointments with them to come in, tour and discuss the options available to them.

The co-workers were very nice. The work was stressfull. the hardest part was staying up-beat at all times. The most enjoyable – more... was interacting with the students. – less

Admissions Representative (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, IN – November 1, 2012
Pros: flexible schedule, pay, hours
Cons: poor leadership, high turnover
I enjoyed the field of work. The management wasn't very knowledgeable of the job and leadership needed improvement. My coworkers were great and worked well as a team. The hardest part of the job was dealing with such high employee turn over.

Productive work environment with intense moral standards
Teacher (Current Employee), Louisville, KY – October 13, 2012
Pros: stable hours, strong ethics, nice class sizes
Cons: confusing curriculum, lack of direction, easy to get derailed by politics
National College is wonderful place to gain a sense of strong work ethics and a wonderful sense of moral stability and confidence. Within that niche National college quickly becomes a close nit community. If you come in presenting new methods or go against the grain, you are going to have a hard uphill climb to make the job work for you. Both students – more... and teachers will fight to try and get you to know your place in this schools community. So going into this schools environment with strong self confidence certainly helps or else it probably isn't the job for you. – less
