Service Support Representative (Former Employee), Cleveland, OHJune 23, 2014
Pros: work hours, compensation
Cons: management, job stability
I liked my work schedule because it was consistent and my work/life balance was great. However, I felt as though certain managers did not take there roles seriously when it came to helping out their employees when they had an issue with some of the tasks and policies.

New Company
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Cleveland, OHJune 18, 2014
Pros: corporate perks, discounts to certain restaurants and amusement parks
Cons: short breaks, no room for advancement
The layout of the workplace seemed put to together but the leaders and management were not. Being a fairly new company guidelines changed all the time and leadership would say one thing and do the complete opposite. NGIC did not treat customers in a fair manor either especially when it comes to the billing department. Also went through 4 different supervisors – more... within 3 months. Great experience in the corporate world and in the insurance field but the company was not put together. – less

Pros: food days, great benefits, great employee perks
Cons: 30 minute breaks
A typical day at National General is very fast paced enviroment, had the opportunity to learn things in the field of insurance, management was very friendly and very approchable as well as my co-workers the hardest part of the job was keeping up with the productivity standards in the Processing Department and the most enjoyable part of the job were – more... the great people that I worked with everyday. – less

Claims Service Consultant (Former Employee), Salem, NCMay 16, 2014
Pros: customer interaction
Cons: excessive system issues, lack of assistance from managers
A typical day of work includes 40-80 inbound calls regarding claim status or filing a new claim. I have learned a lot about the insurance industry and the process of filing claims. Management was not accessible to call center representatives to assist customers, which made it difficult to assist some customers with status information. I would say not – more... being able to help or assist the customer to their satisfaction was the hardest part of the job, not being able to see the claim through to the end. I worked with a great group of associates and we motivated each other to ensure a successful day. The most enjoyable part of the job was being there for the customers and build a rapport with attorneys, agents and customers. – less

Pros: free lunches
Cons: temporary positions. limited job growth.
The job required you to hone your people skills.
You had to learn about the different insurance benefits the company offered.
The managers were typically easy to work with.
The most difficult part of the job was not being able to read illegible writing.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the free lunches and contests.

GOD AWFUL!!!!
claims rep (Current Employee), cleveland, ohApril 18, 2014
Pros: there aren't any perks to this place, unless you like the downtown aroma
Cons: honestly, there are no good reasons to work here, its just awful on all levels
Please be aware and do not work at this place. There's no structure nor are there processes and/or procedures. Needless the say, the management has NOT A CLUE to what they are doing and management is a JOKE! The culture here is to setup for failure. I forewarn anyone to attempt to work here. There's been several terminations since this place has been – more... established and its been an outright disgrace to a living human being to endure daily. Not to mention, they would not definitely not place a minority on a management level and goes unrecognized. – less

Difficult work environment
Material Damage Telephone Claim Representative (Current Employee), Ontario, CAApril 13, 2014
Pros: lots of paid time off.
Cons: long hours, uncomfortable work environment, high stress, heavy work load, unrealistic company expectations, low pay for the work.
Typically the day if very stressful. The phone is constrantly ringing. You have to use many different skills to handle the workload. You have to be organized, know how to deal with customers who are sometimes very angry and coworkers who are shouting on the phone right next to you. You can expect to have to work overtime in order to keep up and meet – more... company expectations. The training is lacking in many important areas. When you leave training you feel as if you have been thrown to the wolves. The coworkers are friendly, but it doesn't make up for the wages which are inadequate for the amount of stress and long hours that you have to endure. Employee turnover is high and management seems uninterested in addressing employee concerns. They offer several days of paid time off, but you feel punished when you come back to a desk that hasn't been worked while you were gone. You almost hate to get sick or go on vacation for fear of what you're going to come back to. – less

Cons: management, scheduling, no room for advancement, no training, improper communication, violation of privacy
Everything about this place is horrible. The managers, the owners, the hours. No room for advancement, no training, no one knows what it going on. This place is awful. Best thing that ever happened was leaving this place.

The worst company I've ever worked for.
Sr. Claims Adjuster - Material Damage (Former Employee), Benicia, CAFebruary 26, 2014
In a year and a half of working for this company, I was yelled at by my manager on a constant basis; almost hit. The tension in the air was thicker than the San Francisco fog. My office worked 7 days a week and 12+ a day of forced over time under constant threat that we would lose our jobs - which we did eventually. We had absolutely no authority because – more... our supervisor had an iron fist and ruled with it. Later we would find out that this is what led our office to its demise and eventually closed us down. – less

Claims Service Consultant/Trainer (Current Employee), CLEVELAND, OHFebruary 1, 2014
Pros: heart of down-town, constantly learning, room for growth
Cons: pay for parking
How to trainer others the same info I've taken in. To be an excellent team player. I've also learned to have minimum supervision, this position is self suffient. I enjoy my coworkers team oriented. The hardest part of the job is to remember in insurance procedures change on a daily basic make sure you keep up with your procedures. The most enjoyable – more... part of the job when the insured tells you how much of an help you have been during such a critical event such as an accident. – less

Claims Adjuster (Former Employee), Winston-Salem, NCJanuary 19, 2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: long hours, too much work, rude management, unethical practices
I worked for this company for over 15 years. It was a good company back in the days of Integon. Now that is history. This company has gotten rid of everyone that has been there for a long time and replaced them with young/inexperienced and naive workers. Why? Because the young usually do not have a family to go home to so they are easy to overwork. – more... I witnessed person after person being fired because it was impossible to keep up with the amount of work given. It was truly not humanly possible to do that much work in 8, 10, 12 hours a day. You are assigned claims ALL day/night long, holidays, weekends, etc. You even get claims when you are on vacation! Many of us chose to let them fire us as protest for their abuse. Beware, this place will work you to death and show no sympathy or appreciation for your hard work. They don't care about your family life, they don't even care about you as an individual. I truly feel bad for the ones that have not been able to get out of that place. I'm just waiting for someone to file a master lawsuit so that I can join them! – less

worst place to work!
Material Damage Claims Rep (Current Employee), Cleveland, OHJanuary 17, 2014
Pros: not sure there are any because too many cons
Cons: everything from management to hr. they love to fire for no valid reason
-Management issues, they don't have time for you and they don't have answers.
-they have their favorites and ignore the rest.
-HR is the worst, the guys do nothing but flirt with the staff
-some people get overloaded while others sit with not enough work and if you mention it to your manager they blame it on the Epic system and do nothing about it.
-they – more... get mad if you use your PTO
-they fire people for no reason or for being over staffed yet the post eight new jobs for the same spots they fired people for.
-RCM don't do anything and don't prepare for the busy season yet it's everyone else's fault.
- can't ask questions because no one knows anything
-you can watch managers sit and play on their computers all day or email some people extra work while talking and joking with others all day.
- it's a joke!
- they should be investigated since they will fire one person for one reason and not fire another for the very same reason!!!!
-people get promoted for all the wrong reasons
-some many compliance issue there that an audit can be dangerous.
-adjusters handling claims for states that they are not even licensed for, if you say anything they tell you no one will know???????? – less

Unless you're dead, they expect you to work EVERYDAY!!
Customer Service (Former Employee), Winston Salem, NCJanuary 15, 2014
Cons: pretty much everything
Worked for this company for many years and learned over the last 5 years, that they do not care about you as a person. You are always expected to be at work---they don't even care if you have a sick child. They do provide lots of vacation time, BUT, they have such strict rules in place, that it's impossible for you to use it all, so many people lose – more... part of their time.

Management stinks! They never have time for you and you certainly can't go to them about any issues you have. They will tell you to get over it or leave. So, that's what I did!!

They also expect you to do 16 hours of work in an 8 hour day. They are always begging for overtime and are penalized if you do not work it. They work you to death, but then give lame raises, if that's what you can even call it. What's .15 cents an hour? Nothing!

The owner does not allow Christmas decorations or the tree in the lobby that has been put up for many years. He also took away the Christmas lunch that each department could go out for every year.

I could go on and on, but if you want to be overworked and unappreciated, this is the perfect company for you! – less
