Pros: a place to start a financial sales career
Cons: long hours, very little prospect of moving upward
This is a boiler room with a hostile work environment. Some of the senior brokers have little formal education and can only talk the talk. You will not learn enough about finance here.

Great place to work with an established book of business

Pros: high payouts, not forced into selling certain products

I started in the industry at National Securities, got sub par training, and only got trained on how to sell equities. I learned alot of things about the industry just from my day to day experience, and self teaching. I love it here as far as environment, work/life balance, don't have management breathing down my throat. But in retrospect, it would be – more...  better to start off in a wire house firm, and move to an independent once you have been established in the industry. If you have an established book of business, National is one of the better independent platforms. – less
