Great working relationships. Excellent opportunities for advancement.

Navy Federal was, for me, the opportunity of a lifetime. They trained me for a position that for some can be overwhelming, how to handle an almost non-stop number of phone calls from members seeking help, information and sometimes guidance with the entire spectrum of products and services that this financial institutions broad base of products and services offers to its members. Navy Federals commitment to customer satisfaction is unmatched by just about any banking institution on the planet! Opportunity for personal growth and advancement abound. I would recommend Navy Federal to anybody looking for an employer who values each individuals contribution to the company. Navy Federals attitude of "Members First" is why I believe they will remain the largest, and best, Credit Union in the world... period!
Advancement is difficult. Positions like the one I was gunning for would sometimes have 80 internal applicants, and even with experience and a college degree it was still challenging. They also claim to prioritize internal applicants but I've discovered that's not at all the case. I started working there because I was told that after I'd been there 6 months, I'd have a very good chance to move into the role I started working there to achieve. I've been there a year with not so much as an interview.
The benefits are great and they have an overly-friendly culture, but the job itself can be draining if you have any aspirations of more than just being at the bottom of the ladder.
Bottom line is if you don't have more than a hig hschool diploma, this place will be great for you. Great pay for the education and experience level of an entry level job. However if you have high ambition and want to work at NFCU, you're better off applying for the positions you want as an external applicant rather than wasting your time trying to work your way up.
Benefits, pay (for what you do and the area)

guidelines, non-conforming/executive loans (Former Employee) – Herndon, VA – January 27, 2017
Navy Federal is a great company. Underwriting 25+loans a day, reviewing SEB tax returns as a Sr. Underwriter. SAR/LAPP Most enjoyed the customers; internal and external. Least enjoyed not having work life balance.
Member Service Representative (Current Employee) – Elizabethtown, KY – January 25, 2017
Navy Federal is an amazing place to work for! If you are looking into it please know it will be a great career move. The down fall is the lack of positions that become available. If you work in a branch there is a lot of drama. I recommend going somewhere where the member volume will be high, a diverse place, or go to the contact center.
a Team Coach position (Former Employee) – Winchester, VA – January 10, 2017
This place is filled with very supportive people and is a great place to work. They truly care about their employees. It's hard to find a place that you actually want to get up and go to every day, NFCU is that place.

Everything about this place is wonderful. Great benefits, great work environment, great management, and they are very understanding and flexible. The bonuses and incentives are a plus! I totally recommend this job. It's a wonderful career path, easy to move up and excel.
