The N.B.A. has firmly established itself as a powerful, economically sound and talent laden professional league. The W.N.B.A. has been around for only seven years. They've made great strides since 1997 when there were doubts about whether it could even last for three years. Still there's a whole lot of work to be done. And these Olympics have been an – more... ideal place to try to gain significant ground. Anytime a business has an opportunity to go global, then obviously there's a greater opportunity to profit from such an expansion.

The most important lesson the Olympics have taught me, is how easily one begins to think as though the world revolves around him. As American sports fans, we sometimes forget that gymnasts, swimmers and soccer players are, in so many ways, more phenomenal athletes than our hoopsters, homerun kings and football players. That being the case, how do you present to the rest of the world (more precisely, sell) the beauty of basketball in a more updated way? In those terms, the "Dream Team" was a huge success in 1992. But that was twelve years ago.(By the way, I don't buy into the notion that the men are struggling, simply because they are not as good as the Barcelona team. Most significantly, countries "bought in" on that "product". They saw the magnificence of the game, took to learning and developing it, and the talent around the world simply got better.)
