Pros: Commission sales allow to make own salary, Berkshire Hathaway benefits
Cons: Very slow weekdays, not for all personality types
The typical day as a salesperson can vary significantly. During the weekday, foot traffic is slow, and there aren't many people to sell to (from the perspective of my department). In contrast, the weekends are extremely busy and hectic. Weekends and special orders are primarily the opportunities to make money. I've worked in customer service since I was sixteen, but I personally find approaching customers as potential sales to be more intimidating than other work I've performed. The atmosphere is competitive and the coworkers can reflect that. NFM has great benefits and moral code, and a very respectable history. Many people work there for a very long time, but sales is not for everyone and it is not very reflective of my own personality. I appreciate that my managers treat my team as individuals and work to help us improve our sales.
