In 2003, Pinellas County purchased the property that for 20 years was the headquarters for Neighborly Care Network. – more... The County planned to use the property to expand the St. Pete/Clearwater Airport. As part of the payment, the County gave Neighborly six acres of land on Evergreen Avenue. After renting space for a few years, Neighborly is now thrilled to be building its new headquarters.
“While we are excited to be moving to a new facility, the need for it underscores the reality that there is a lot of work to do in Pinellas County to help our elderly citizens get the services they so desperately need,†says Neighborly's President/CEO Debra Shade. She continues, “Since we opened our doors in 1966, our goal has been to provide services to seniors and their families. With our elderly population multiplying at such a fast rate, the need for services has continued to grow. We plan to expand some of our existing services, including Nutrition and Adult Day Care, as well as create other new and innovative programs, once we move into the new space. We expect to make an even larger impact in this community by offering hope to families that are struggling to keep their loved ones at home and out of nursing homes. We want to help those families that may face job losses because they have to take care of elderly parents. Many seniors live alone and can no longer cook for themselves.
