Cellular Therapy Specialist II & III

PCT is at the forefront of this developing industry, and the processes and procedures that we are creating today are standardizing the field of cell therapy and pushing development, innovation and design to new levels.
This position processes, cryopreserves, and otherwise manipulates cell products using sterile techniques, according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); and, facility cGMP practices. We have openings in Allendale, NJ and Mountain View, CA.
Performs any and all required processing and testing required to produce and assess safe and efficacious products
Performs testing to assess product content and safety according to designed procedures
Responsible for testing: nucleated cell counts, viability, sterility sampling, tissue culture
Cryopreservation of products using DMSO solutions and rate-controlled freezers
Operates equipment according to designed procedures-- this equipment could, include but is not limited to the COBE 2991 cell washer, Cell Counters, controlled-rate freezers, temperature monitoring systems, alarm systems laminar flow hoods, CO2 incubators, liquid nitrogen freezers, microscopes, centrifuges, pipets, gene amplifiers
Performs the monitoring and maintenance of critical equipment such ultra-cold freezers, storage tanks, refrigerators, freezers, and incubators
Manipulates products according to established standard operating procedures such as enrichments, depletions, or volume reductions to achieve pre-determined endpoints.
Participates in clinical trial support and studies, may include but not limited to: Sample preparation, Sample shipping, and Media and reagent preparation
Uses knowledge of processing principles and techniques to make sound judgments and appropriate decisions
Communicates effectively with other departments and clinical staff, including apheresis, clinical laboratory, attending physicians, research fellows, and unit nurses
Performs facility and equipment duties such as the quality control, periodic maintenance, and preventative maintenance, for applicable methods and equipment, reporting facility and equipment problems to supervisor, trouble-shooting facility and equipment problems as specified in SOP
Shares on-call responsibilities
Assists and leads in the training of facility procedures, test methods, and policies
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of applicable experience expected in a clinical laboratory, hematology, blood banking, immunology, or cGMP manufacturing
Cell processing experience preferred
Current Medical Technologist license or equivalent preferred; but, not required
Demonstrates tact and courtesy in dealing with others
Flexibility is a must
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
