Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  Breinigsville, PANovember 14, 2016
The management is helpful, and the people in Nestle are always helpful and friendly. Nestle helps develop computer skills and communication skill. The most enjoyable part of this job was the environment where people felt at ease and friendly with one another.

Safe, pays well - long hours, family life difficult
Warehouse (Former Employee) –  Crete, NENovember 7, 2016
Purina in Crete is a great job. The pay is usually very competitive. The hours are long and management can be out of touch, especially forgetting that we are almost always open.

Nestle Purina takes safety more seriously than anything I have seen, you follow the rules and help management understand any issues and you will always come home safely and well compensated.

The job is, as most manufacturing jobs are, just what you make it. For some people that can be an issue, for many others it is a chance to do a good job the right way every day.
Pros
Great pay, good people. A safe job to work at, always.
Cons
Long hours

Good safety orented company with good pay
Production Operator, TPM Utility (Former Employee) –  Fort Dodge, IAOctober 25, 2016
This pet food plant manufactured cat food and was centrally located.
This is a Union job and most things are dictated by seniority. Almost all of the people on the production floor are very nice and helpful. You have no option on where you will start as a new employee. your training period is up to 4 weeks. the hardest part of the job is the proprietary computer program that operates most of the motors, valves and other mechanical devices in the plant. This company is highly safety oriented and give out bonuses for being safe. Some of the management is new and not familiar with some of the plants functions so it is a bit hindering. All in all its an alright place to work.
Pros
benefits and possible bonuses
Cons
long training period and new management

Don't waste your time
Forklift Operator/Mixing Center (Former Employee) –  Allentown, PAAugust 25, 2016
There is no home life. Work every weekend and the management does not care about new employees. The employees that have been there for a while don't help new employees out lot of them will stab you in the back to make themselves look good. And one other thing is this is a union job the union will not help you at all the when something goes wrong the union rep. does nothing for you. The union is there to take your money that is it. So if you like no life and lots of money this is the job for you. For me this was the worst mistake I have made career wise.
Pros
good money
Cons
no home life, union s...s, Management s...s too

Quiet most of the time, easy to get along with the staff.
External Site Construction Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Jefferson, WIAugust 16, 2016
The constant hum of the machines down the hall were quite comforting. It rarely bothered you to the point that you couldn't get your work done. Typical days were nice, everyone says good morning to each other, which was nice to see. Even being a temporary employee, I always felt welcome. There really wasn't anything difficult about the job, I was at a desk working on my own, using the phone to call companies and answering questions for them. The most enjoyable part for me was the ease of it and how nice everyone was.
Pros
Nice people, stocked break room, clean area.
Cons
Wish I could have stayed!

the smell will get you every time
Packaging Utility (Former Employee) –  Crete, NEAugust 12, 2016
if you think making dog food could be fun well I would say fun it is not but most interesting job that I have had. I went from working in the warehouse loading trucks and picking product to put on trucks to packaging the food to making the food. if you can get past the smell then working in some of the areas of the plant will be for you other wise stay in the dry parts packaging and can plant or warehouse other wise watch out because eventually you wont be able to wash that smell out of those clothes. and the people for the most part they are all right but come across those ones that you don't get along with and watch out for that knife in the back and out the door you will go.

Good job if you don't want a life outside of work.
Maintenance Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Edmond, OKAugust 5, 2016
They run with the absolute minimum amount of employees as possible so overtime is required every week. If you are a hard worker then they will give you all the work while the slackers get less. Office and upper management get weekends off but not the hourly shift workers. I have learned a lot over the years here but have missed out on my home life. No longer worth missing out on spending time with my children.
Pros
Good pay and benefits. Job security. Discount on dog and cat food.
Cons
No home life. Will be required to work long hours and 7 days a week.

Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Fort Dodge, IAJuly 28, 2016
84 hour weeks, no life. Management transfers in and out; each trying to leave their mark good or bad. Worst/Laziest HR department I have ever seen. Union worthless. Decent benefits and wage.
Pros
Benefits and wage
Cons
84 hour weeks, HR too lazy to hire enough people. Union worthless

Work for the Best
Talent Advisor (Current Employee) –  St. Louis, MOJuly 25, 2016
Nestle Purina is one of the greatest organizations that I have worked for. The organization strives to find the best talents, and continues to grow by doing so. The work/life balance and career development are the absolute best in the industry. If you are looking to work for an amazing organization that values their employees, then I would highly recommend Nestle Purina.
