Great Company
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Biloxi, MS; Hattiesburg, MS –
Pros: great well run company, good discounts, promote from within
Cons: low pay, part time
I worked for this company for about 2 years and I loved it! It's low pay, but hey, it's retail. The company is very fair with promotions from within and the company as a whole is well run. They give decent discounts to employees. If you're looking for a good part time job that treats employees well and is a good environment, this is your company!

Retail store
Store Manager (Former Employee), Bridgewater, NJ –
Pros: great people
Cons: healthcare benefits
Typical day of work is very faced-paced. I learned all areas of management. Co-workers work with each other to accomplish company goals. Most challenging part of the job was the commute to get to work. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with a great staff and boss.

Working at New York & Company was always a positive experience. Employees were always happy to see one another and management was very supportive. I left this company considering my coworkers more like family members and friends.

Fun place to work
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO –
A typical day would consist giving the associates the daily statistics of the company and store sales reports, assigning each associate a duty for the day, and giving excellent service to each customer. I really learned how to become a better manager and how to do human resource functions. My co-workers were fun and energetic.

Normally ran the cash register up front, but if not, I was busy assisting customers, checking fitting rooms and pricing items.

Pros: fun.
Cons: minimum wage, hard to move up, no health care or benefits.
Basic retail job. Managers often immature and power hungry. Despite that, I really enjoyed working for this company.

Working with New York & Company
Manager (Former Employee), Elmhurst, NY –
I was always looking forward to get into work, I gained a lot of knowledge in the business industry. I began as an associate, with my dedication and demonstration of fast learner and with the ability to gain challenging task, three month on working with the company, my store manager promoted me to become a manager. Being in this position have introduced – more...  me to the responsibility handling a business and becoming a role model to the associates. The co workers and myself always stuck together as a team, never letting anything conflict with our focus on making the business successful. Enjoying my position and focusing on my goal to make the business successful, along with other managers, no task became difficult for me to handle. I will always appreciate everything that the company have taught me. – less

Flexible and productive workplace that gives you the opportunity to work with different individuals.
Cashier/ Sales Associate (Current Employee), Moreno Valley, CA –
Pros: strengthens customer service skills, flexible scheduling
Cons: healthcare, incentives
The store keeps a steady group of customers coming into the store which occupies our time as well as other task. I have learned to deal with different people and situations in a professional manner. The hardest part of my job is keeping up with task when we are short staffed. The most enjoyable part of my job is providing my customers with great customer – more...  service and being able to fulfill their request and needs. – less

Good overall just not enough hours and staff
Sales Associate (Current Employee), New York, NY –
Pros: benefits, breaks are good, flexible schedule
Cons: not enough hours, not enough staff for how busy it gets
Good company to work for. Managers are nice but not enough hours. Also depends which location you work at. Managers sometimes don't listen especially where I work at , the line could be to the door and she won't add a cashier until people start complaining . There are no hours and they can't hire new people, but expect one person to do three or more – more...  things at a time. But the coworkers are cool. Only thing they call out too much. – less

Fun atmosphere when dealing with new people
Managing Sales Associate (Current Employee), Merrillville, IN –
Each day was something new, customers were always there to make the day. Some experiences were better then others but either way you learn from each experience. Management was always great and knew what needed to get done to make everyone's lives slightly easier. Co-workers are always there to help each other. Hardest part was trying to get everything – more...  done and helping customers at same time, but usually everything was done. Most enjoyable part was just meeting all the different people and hearing their stories when they wanted to share. – less

pushy sale tactics
assistant manager (Former Employee), pittsburgh pa –
Pros: discounts
Cons: pushy sales tactics
I had an issue with when customers would enter the store, we would be like an animal waiting for their prey. I had a problem with this as I would rather ASSIST customers in finding what they were looking for rather than PUSH something that they had no interest in. I had the highest sales in this store because of how I treated my customers. I greeted – more...  them and let them know if they needed assistance, I would be there to help them.

The most enjoyable part of my job were the customers. – less

A fun atmosphere to work in and learn new things.
Retail Associate (Current Employee), Pleasant Prairie, WI –
Pros: discount on clothes, free things for getting a credit application, and free lunches sometimes.
Cons: no benefits.
A typical day can vary depending how the weather is outside. If the weather is nice and sunny we are going to very busy in the store. I've learned to do returns, how to size up the merchandise, the proper way to fold the clothes, and to run the register. There is two full time managers and two part time managers so you are never alone in the store by – more...  yourself. There is at least a handful of younger girls that work here at the outlet store. Being nice to rude people, who don't care if clothes fall on the floor and then don't pick them up. I get to work with some geat people and get a really good discount on clothes that I can wear anywhere, the beach, work, home. – less

A typical day at work, would be busy. Getting the customers what they need, and trying to help thm to the bet of ou ability. Management is very understandable, and expects the co-workers to work hard.
