Great opportunity to work with all ages in a helping capacity

A typical day is one with 10-12 patient load with 1 RN and maybe a pct.We do our best to care for our patients with less than the basics. We work as a team that is the only way the nursing staff can make through the day. Management is less than supportive to the floor staff. A typical day at work is, checking staff assignments and make adjustments if necessary. This is to make the workflow for the day easy as possible and productive.

What I learned is that, one cannot please everybody. Just be fair and hope that everything will be okay.

Supportive and helpful

extremely unsafe environment to work in, 18-24 patient to nurse ratio, no nurse to nurse communication, lack of security staff in the ER. Never given breaks nor compensated for missing them.

Friendly environment and great place to work. I learned the value of teamwork. Even as a team every individual must be strong in their role. Management was somewhat understanding in personal matters. The co-workers are amazing because of our similar goal. Really enjoyed working there.

Purchased meds and supplies for an Out Patient Chemo Therapy Facility, Park Slope Medicine and for the whole Main Pharmacy within NY Methodist hospital.
• Maintained and recorded all business transactions. Balanced ledgers, reconciled accounts, and prepared various data analysis reports. Handled contract upkeep and quota deadlines for all vendors (wholesalers) – more... accounts.
• Organized Monthly data analysis reports for the pharmacy and Chemo facility such as: Quarterly Chemo reporting, Out-Patient chemo and NY Methodists hospitals budget, monthly savings, rebates and Reimbursements.
• Data Entry in various systems. i.e. Lawson, Cerner, McKesson
• Database developing.
• All Inventory control such as, Issuing, Placing orders to restock, receiving of invoices, invoice balancing and verification, correction of price changes, report any errors made on an invoice or specific purchase order.
• Assisted in the maintenance of hospital pharmacy formulary by adjusting pricing structures and pharmacy management in preparation for JCAHO survey by modifying product specific alerts i.e., (Look Alike/Sound Alike meds) – less

This is a beautiful organization. Poor staffing ratio. It would be great if management paid great attention to their staff as they do for the beautiful building. If this was done, this would be one of the best places to work.

Worked with lots of specialists, exposed to great working environment.

I am a traditional private PCP and my week includes two offices, a NH and a hospital. I work 6 out of 7 days. The hardest part is the nighttime phone calls and never getting a full nights rest as I am always on call for myself.
The best part is building a rapport with my patients and their family.

Cons: The department I'm in is notorious for blocking transfers and advancements. The entire staff of my department is per-diem and not offered benefits. The manager is terribly passive aggressive and has low managerial skills. Good employees suffer for the sins of employees with inferior work ethic in this particular department. Pros: Other departments – more... seem to fare better. The hourly rate is competitive, the employee discount with Sprint is 25% and there is a 10% discount for ASPCA pet medical insurance. – less

- There was never a typical day unless i was assigned to that position. I did vary of jobs during the week. From working in the Emergency room, Operating room, Maternity Ward, or doing floor work.
- I learned how to use scrubber machines, i learned how to clean hospital beds, and much more.
- I say the management was fair to me.
- I had excellent co-workers, – more... they knew how to work as a team.
- When being selected to the maternity ward I say was a tough job to do, due to the fact that the rooms had to be done in a fast paced manner for the next patients.
- To be able to work with your co-workers as a team was a enjoyable part of the job because it brings out the best out of everyone. – less

i enjoy my internship at new york methodist .i learned alot there

The hospital was always well kept,the staff very caring towards their patients.There is a lot of team work to accomplish the standard of care.Like every place there were fun times and tough times.Overall every one try to maintain focus,after all good patient care is what matters.

Working at Methodist is a wonderful experience. The interaction with the docters and patients is an enjoyable experience. It is ful of growth potential.

Bad experience i was never paid Ot they owe me and they were not up to the time with there organization methods. Hospital would not invest in buying system for end user. Very busy hospital with large case load to ingnore what should be done. Untrustful place to work.

Its a great workplace to work,state of the art environment.the days are always productive and excited.The staff are very friendly to work with.Management are superb,always on point with days proceedings.I've learned how to operate the robots,work in the IV rooms,also how to work in the control substance and satellite pharmacy.I really didn't experience – more... any hard part because I was learning everything hands -on at the time, it was just fun.The most enjoyable part of the job is getting the medications and labeling them for the pharmacist. – less
