New York Methodist was a great experience. As a young man I worked with the Vice President of the Hospital. My responsibilities were tremendous. I had no free time and while the pressures were great, i always met my task.

Clinical Resource Nurse (Current Employee), Brooklyn, NYJuly 22, 2013
Diverse place to work. I love my co-workers. My nights can very unpredictable, never know what will happen. The hardest part of the job is when I feel as if I get no support. I have learned to trouble shoot, solve problems and just be a support system for my nursing staff. Most enjoyable part of my job is when I know I made a difference in a patient' – more... life. – less

Room for improvement, and more productive teamwork
Nurse Technician (Former Employee), Brooklyn, NYJune 26, 2013
Typical day at work, hard work with very little support from leaders and management. The hardest part of the job was getting supportive team work. I really enjoy taking care of my patients knowing it leads to help in promoting healing. Work load ratio was overwhelming but at the end of the day I did enjoy doing my job because I love caring for people.

OUR NURSES ROCK DESPITE.........
rn (Former Employee), Brooklyn , NYMay 7, 2013
Pros: nursing culture
Cons: poor staffing
A typical day is one with 10-12 patient load with 1 RN and maybe a pct.We do our best to care for our patients with less than the basics. We work as a team that is the only way the nursing staff can make through the day. Management is less than supportive to the floor staff. Promotions are handed out to the most liked and popular not the most qualified – more... for the role. The hardest part of the day is feeling frustrated because I can not appropriately care for my patient under the conditions in which i work. The – less

Nurse Manager (Former Employee), 506 6th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215April 2, 2013
Pros: weekends and holidays off
Cons: sometimes, no breaks. when staff complains about working conditions and/or their peers.
A typical day at work is, checking staff assignments and make adjustments if necessary. This is to make the workflow for the day easy as possible and productive.

What I learned is that, one cannot please everybody. Just be fair and hope that everything will be okay.

Supportive and helpful

I work as Manager in this unit (NICU). Whenever I delegate – more... an assignment, the staff always sees to it that it is done.

The hardest part of the job is balancing the schedule.

The most enjoyable part of the job is, seeing my staff not too overworked and comfortable whenever staffing is good. – less
