I work in a co-teacher classroom with a NYS certified special education teacher.
I learned at a very focused technique used with students who are diagnosed with Autism called, ABA (Adaptive Behavior Analysis). For this belief or method we physically prompt students when needed. We use this to prepare students as much as possible for kindergarten with preset skills and strong foundations. Management consisted of an executive, business, and curriculum and instruction director. The hardest part of the day would be the days when I would get smacked, hit, spit on, cursed at, punched, or smacked, but I love what I do. The best part of my job is watching accomplishment in one of my students. Whether they were able to zipper, button, read a word, recognize a letter or number, or just wave and say hello, it makes my job worth it.
