Pros: incredibly talented, cohesive team, softball games, lunch picnics on nice days, very family oriented, great benefits, flexibility.
This was one of my favorite positions. I enjoyed the varied duties which ranged from purchasing to payroll and meeting/events planning. I also interviewed the families of 9/11 victims and composed the free obituaries being offered by Newsday. Benefits included comprehensive, competitive medical for my family, generous vacation days, sick and personal – more... days, 401k and company stock. The company tried to hire and promote from within when possible - which is a practice I agree with. After being bought out by Tribune, the employees of the online division - which was my division - were let go and replaced by Tribune employees. I was given a position in Classifieds. Though I did not enjoy the new position as much, I was thankful to Newsday for making an attempt to keep me employed. I left the company because I was a single mother and had to move for financial reasons. – less
