Next Steps Learning Center is looking for an Assistant Director/Director for our Chanhassen location. We are looking for qualified candidates that have excellent leadership skills and have experience managing team members and families in a licensed early childhood facility.
Have experience working as a Teacher in a classroom
Have a degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or degree in related field
Experience as an assistant director or director in a licensed child care facility is beneficial
Have excellent communication skills to work with parents and families
Ability to relate positively to young children, parents, staff is essential
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. with the handling of children
Reports directly to the owner
Overall management of children, staff and parental relations/issues that may arise
Assists in the overall management of enrollments and transitioning of children
Must see that all state licensing requirements are maintained
Develops interface with all state licensing and other regulatory agencies involved in child care
Manage operations to ensure continued compliance and re-licensing of center
Assists in hiring staff
Ensures new hires complete orientation training for staff prior to them starting work
Assists with staff evaluations on the basis of overall job performance
Ensures that school is properly staffed and that all staff persons perform their duties
Ensures that deadlines are met to ensure facility continuously operates i.e. payroll, supplies, etc.
Overall management of day to day staff and family relations
Provide staff schedule development and management support
Assists in planning monthly meeting and other appreciation activities
Sets up and maintains all staff personnel and child files
Ensures Staff and Family Bulletin Boards are current and attractive
Identifies staff training needs, plans and implements staff training programs
Reviews communications going to parents that are written by staff members
Assists with planning Summer Camps
Sets up and ensures implementation of strong parent communications
Assists with the planning and implementation of parent programs
Overall management of operational functions such as ensuring monthly emergency drills are implemented, updates of operation manuals, etc.
Provides office administration support as needed such as answering phones, classroom assistance, etc.
Acts as a substitute teacher when necessary
